Steven Wilson debuts new video

Progressive rock auteur Steven Wilson has released a music video for the song "Permanating". The single features Bollywood-style dancing and smiling - something that is sure to be controversial from a Wilson offering.

It's not that the dancers were smiling...it's that there was a shot of Steven himself grinning from ear to ear at the dancers. I'm half-worried and half-excited to see what the hell this new album is gonna bring.

"Poppy and cheerful like old PT B sides"
This is pretty true. In fact, I think this song is quite similar to the track "Jupiter Island" from Porcupine Tree made way back in 1991. They're both catchy, poppy, rhythmically basic, and fantastical.

What?! I thought Song of I was the best of them all. But I do respect your opinion, just wanted to emphasize mine :p other tracks are wonderful too, that's why I admire his solo works. He's doing things he normaly couldn't do and with his mind... he's doing wonders with his solo works

The video sort of implies from the piano lid closing that this is very much going to be an outlier on the album.

He himself said in an interview that it was a derailment from the album's main sound.

I guess I have to repeat myself here: Show some fucking respect to the great Cock-Rock pioneer Stephen Wilton. Someone else on the site was trashing Stephen's good friend Mikael Akerstache, earlier as well. This site is unbelievable. Respect the past, folks.

Steven Wilton isn't a cock rock pioneer but a synth pop Megastar.
