Hey wow look at that, new Bumbum jamz.
The Uruk-Hai material sounds like a mixture of atmospheric mixed with NWOBHM of all things, and the Burzlebums sounds like just good mid 90s Varg.

| |
Oh hell yes
|
| |
So is this actually real or what?
|
| |
Hey I know the guy who published this article
|
| |
Yeah it's real, the video description has a more in depth version of my tl;dr and Varg is in the comments saying it's legit. He also just put out a video including material from this recording.
|
| |
How'd he get a guitar in prison?
|
| |
A great question no one seems to be able to answer.
|
| |
I'm suspicious but will check anyway
|
| |
He smuggled it up his butt.

"Wow. I have not heard this in a long time.... In fact, I had forgotten all about this. It must be from a recording I did in Bergen prison in 1994, on a 4-track studio (cassette-player large) that I was allowed to have (along with my now lost guitar) for a very short time in my cell. At least I used that time well, and recorded this.
What a shit hole that prison was. One of those fancy new prisons, completely void of spirit and where everyone is treated with clinical hatred. I spent one year in almost total isolation there, before they sent me to Ila Prison.
Thanks for letting me listen to these track again. So many memories." - Varg

I've probably listened to this at least 10 times already. This is better than Filosofem and all of his late material.
|
| |
"What a shit hole that prison was. One of those fancy new prisons, completely void of spirit and where everyone is treated with clinical hatred."
as opposed to prison, where it is not like that
|
| |
track around 9 minutes sounds like first track on umpskitar?
|
| |
crimge
|
| |
This is really good, I really like the atmosphere of this split, both Uruk-Hai & Burzum did a great job. What a hidden treasure!
|
| |
oh shit that's awesome
|
| |
interesting

metal lives

"track around 9 minutes sounds like first track on umpskitar? "
I think it's Belus Dod. I also recognized Sverddans at 5:00.
|
| |
Yeah Norway’s prison system is really lax, I think several of the Scandinavian/northern European countries subscribe to the idea if prison isn’t total deprivation you end up with better-rehabilitated prisoners.
I thought he recorded a couple things while he was in there, weren’t there some shitty ambient records he put out...?
|
| |
Neato
|
| |
"I thought he recorded a couple things while he was in there, weren’t there some shitty ambient records he put out...?"
no, but he released two dungeon synth masterpieces from prison.
|
| |
Absolutely maniacal cunt but incredibly talented Scandinavian fella.
|
| |
right after he 'ends' Burzum too
|
| |
"I think it's Belus Dod." yeah! thanks
|
| |
"no, but he released two dungeon synth masterpieces from prison"
masterpiece is definitely stretching it; Hlidskjalf is good but daudi baldrs is pretty bad
|
| |
ok so no bully but this is actually the first "Burzum" i have ever listened to, and i love it. where should i go from here? does he have other stuff that sounds like this?
|
| |
I would just start with the self-titled and go chronologically until you stop liking it, tbh. These recordings have elements in common with pretty much the first 10+ years of music he made.
|
| |
damn, how long it took for this to get leaked. intro is absolutely terrific. i just love papa varg
|
| |
Now someone leak all the lights are fucked, thx
|
| |
someone tell me if this is interesting at all before i listen to it
|
| |
damn, there were some pretty sweet riffs on there, too bad none of them got used.
edit: nvm i guess some of them did. the one starting at 3:35 was on Belus. cool.
|
| |
Oh, Varg.
This is bad but that one part sounds like Daudi’s Baldr
|
| |
Yo, those Uruk-Hai riffs were tough
|
| |
7:26 when you wanna be kvlt but your friends need a banger for the party.
