NOWWWWW I'M LOSSSSTTTTT
IN OBLIIIIVVVVEEEEOOOOOEEEOOOOONNNNN
| |
Yeah, Oden was the last good album by these guys 0.0
| |
The last couple albums have been way too commercialized. They're just not exciting anymore.
| |
Nah they still rule. Just samey as always but it’s Amon Amarth. Pumped for this album.
| |
production is kinda ass on this tbh
| |
Were they hoping for Mastodon references?
| |
zzzzzzz
| |
boooring
| |
they're sounding more and more like Dethklok these days
| |
they seem watered down now
| |
I mean, yeah their sound is a little neutered but they've essentially been playing pop melo-death for over a decade and, aside from Surtur Rising, they've been consistently good and fun. Hell, Jomsviking was probably the most ambitious album they've put out in forever too. This track is a pretty fun midtempo anthem. Looking forward to this
| |
What's with the hate for Surtur Rising? A lot of people seem to put it down for reasons I can't understand. I find it to be a top 5 in their discog for me, I think it's miles better than Deciever and Jomsviking (of which is absolutely terrible).
| |
So are these guys good live? I have the chance to see them in a couple months but I haven't listened to them since like 2008 and have no memory of them.
| |

agreed hard, Surtur is their last great album
| |
I'll give it another spin, but I remember being really, really let down by it when Surtur was released aside from the single and the closing track. That was at my peak fandom for them too, which actually caused me to forget about them for a while. I did see them on the Surtur Rising tour though where they played it in its entirety and the album was much, much better live.
| |
Why demons aren’t allowed in the mosh pit? Racists
By the numbers but solid track
| |
continuing to become more and more inconsistent.
| |
Surtur Rising was their last good album. Still going to see them live when they come later this year of course.
| |
this band didn't need to continue past twilight of the thundergod

Yep, I third this.

"aside from Surtur Rising, they've been consistently good and fun"
surtur rising is better than everything thats come after it combined, are you retarded
| |
Song sucks.
| |
And I thought Mastodon's cts was boring. This is a whole new level.
| |
serious question
how can one be a grown ass adult
and STILL
be in
a viking
themed
metal band
| |
because money
| |
because metal is for children
| |
Tell me how a grown ass adult should behave, please
| |
@hellscythe I guess, but really how much money could these guys possibly be making
| |
If I could I’ll break your face now stupid gandhi
| |
@notrap i don't have answers i just have questions
| |
I bet you’re a fucking coward outside the safe net fucking ghandhi moron
| |
OK bruh i hate ghandhi just as much as the next guy but damn chill lol
| |
@pots they're definitely not raking in cash, but for their genre they're definitely one of the most successful and as close to "mainstream" as it can get. they do above average with record sales and their live shows especially tend to sell very well. so I imagine they make enough to make it worth continuing at least
| |
Lol I leave an obviously untrue joke/bait comment and someone responds with a stereotypical agressive metalbro comment. Classic, I couldn't of asked for more.
| |
idk man being in Amon Amarth sounds pretty fun. you don't have to be a grown-ass adult like all the other depressed people in the world.
| |
I just feel like it would be so hard for it not to become a chore long before 20 straight years of the fucking gimmick. like at what point are you like "goddamn let me put my talent towards something that isn't about being serious about vikings"
| |
20 years of vikings yo like thats a lot of time to be a halloween costume band
| |
I despise people like you dude
| |
posts you can smell
| |
That escalated quickly
| |
lmao notraps reaction fucking killed me
| |
I, personally, would prefer to put my talent towards being serious about accounting
| |
lol u know what i mean.
| |
you would be ok with only ever writing songs about vikings for the rest of your life?
| |
It would be hard for them to stop now given they are literally THE VIKING BAND, they gain new fans all the time because of it. Maybe they don't really care that much about artistic pursuits and just love the tour life.
| |
Could be
| |
Lol mission accomplished ghandi
| |
Mission accomplished with an additional pay rise.
| |
I saw Mastodon did a Zeppelin cover the other day, genuinely thought this was going to be a Mastodon cover by AA. Disappointed tbh.
| |
figuratively then : )
| |
Using literally wrong is cool though. It's misused so often that it's meaning might as well mutate.
| |
Literally (adverb): an exaggeration
| |
This song was literally boring af
| |
welcome to amon amarths entire discography
| |
This is the kind of band my friends I played Warhammer with in high school would get obsessed with
| |
Lol jester they have a couple fun albums
| |
@Lord(e)Po)))ts, they could be making loads of money (Johan, at least). They headline festivals around the world and a few weeks ago Johan was literally a guest on some popular sports show in America where they were flogging his Amon Amarth hockey jerseys.
| |
I would probs get tired of it if I was contractually obligated not to create any other music besides Amon Amarth
| |
"Johan was literally a guest"
There's that word again
| |
"There's that word again"
mainframe?
| |
I literally have no clue what you're talking about
