New Dark Tranquillity Video

2020-10-30 by Kyle Ward EMERITUS | 31 Comments
Swedish melodic death metal pioneers Dark Tranquillity have released their third single and accompanying music video for "The Dark Unbroken", the fourth track from their upcoming album Moment.

Regarding the video, the band stated:

Filmed in the heart of Gothenburg with renowned tv/film director Erik Eger (Thicker than water, One hundred years of Evil) "The Dark Unbroken" shows the city as we've seen it this year and it reflects our longing to be back on a stage together. Shot in part at the beautiful Stora Teatern that has stood in the centre of town since 1959 this serves as a transition to our upcoming streamed live show from the very same stage on the 21st of Nov. More info on this to follow, until then, enjoy The Dark Unbroken!

Moment is slated to be released November 20th by Century Media.

That solo is sexy af but the rest of the track is extremely vocal-driven. Thankfully Stanne sounds really good and his singing has seemingly improved. Not much to say about the riffs on this one, as there aren't many.

Video is good, well-shot.

For a vocal driven song the vocal melodies aren't very exciting or memorable.

Pretty boring track overall, the worst of the singles imo.

Yeah despite technically sounding good they could have done more from a songwriting perspective than the cleanly sung chorus hook.

How about we just let Johan solo for like 4 minutes?

As a fan of a lot of their work I'm pretty underwhelmed by the three songs released so far, seems like the band is running out of steam creatively

I don't understand why they couldn't just have an earlier release date vs releasing so many singles. I'd rather hear it all in one go

Best song of the three, Stanne's voice is so amazing, gladly they are not going back to their early sound.

I like it, can't say I love the solo even though it's obviously well played but it just sounds like every melodeath solo ever. Really enjoy Martin Brandstroms input though

This is my favorite of the three, which just proves that I prefer their music when it's driven by keyboards and vocals to driven by guitars.

Not bad, not amazing. Somewhere in the middle. A little supbar for DT standards I guess. Hopefully this is their most popish song of the album and works better in context as a whole

The entire second half of the album is similar to this song. One of my top DT albums here.

If you don't like their mellower, moody, side with a decent amount of clean singing, then... yeah. For me, that's my favorite side of the band.

I don’t mean to sound so negative because I do really enjoy their stuff like that, Projector is one of my favorites and Construct was a nice change of pace after We Are the Void failed to recapture the magic of Fiction. Just kind of afraid they’re becoming complacent, Atoma was good but also one of the least interesting t albums they’ve done. No interesting time changes or curveball dynamic shift in any of the songs, which aren’t a necessity but def do a lot for the replayability of their 2000s stuff. I’m still looking forward to hearing Moment and I hope I enjoy it

I genuinely wonder what is driving them in this calmer, cleaner direction. Age? Boredom? Complacency? Atoma hinted at going this way so I'm not entirely surprised that is happening. Guess I'm just disappointed a bit that they got two ace guitarists and then just release an album of mellow tunes and clean singing.

tbh i've always really liked the mellower side of the band too - it's the mellower tunes from construct that really stuck with me. i hope there's a nice contrast with some heavier moments.

Didn't jam this until now. Not bad, I like the synth sounds and the cleans

Jivarp sounds tired on all the singles though
