I quite like it personally. Nothing mind blowing but I really vibed with it

i might prefer self-destructor a tiny bit but this is solid. album's shaping up to be a well above 3.8.

It sounds like Pete should take some time off from Chevelle. The song is good and the reception for the album is likely to be positive just like with pretty much every other Chevelle album, but trying to force yourself through a musical burnout definitely isn't healthy.
| |
how is he forcing himself through a musical burnout?
| |
Pete Loeffler mentioned in an interview with Loudwire Magazine that "I don't think I've ever had a more difficult time writing music"
| |
Maybe inspiration hits him out of nowhere in the near future. I’d like them pursuing some other directions like Punchline, Envy, One Ocean or Twinge did.
| |
Flying in the face of every single preconceived rule of track releasing. Gotta give the dude props for that.
Song's pretty good, as to be expected from the merchants of pretty-good themselves. If he is feeling the squeeze though I'd rather see them protect what is really a pretty damn decent legacy and take some time out.
| |
Solid song, although it loses steam a bit in the second half in my opinion. Album is shaping up nicely
| |
Other stray observations... song is definitely about the Donald (less relevant now with the album delay)... and 1:46-1:55 is one of the more Tool-esque riffs the band has put out in a while
| |
This was not good
Liked the first single far more
| |
"Pete Loeffler mentioned in an interview with Loudwire Magazine that "I don't think I've ever had a more difficult time writing music""
That doesn't necessarily mean that he was forcing himself tbh
| |
Generic track, lame generic band
| |
I honestly agree he sounds a little beat. I think both these songs indicate a hugely satisfying album for fans but I hope he understands that most would fully understand and be fine with him taking a break regardless of this album's quality. I'd rather wait six years to hear my favorite artist put out a beast of a record that he's totally thrilled about than wait three for something they're putting out out of obligation. It's not exactly that hard to get a hard rock fix these days anyway and it's a small price to pay to preserve someone's mental health.
| |
i do not think anyone in 'hard rock' writes better earworm riffs
| |
" I’d like them pursuing some other directions like Punchline, Envy, One Ocean or Twinge did."
absolutely agree, give me a Chevelle totally focused on moody atmospheres plz
| |
this was...okay, I liked the ending and the instrumental bridge a lot, but I have mixed feelings about Chevelle's love of crunchy riffs with slow rhythms. Makes the song feel like it's plodding along. Self-Destructor was a much better single
| |
I have a hard time getting into this band, their other music included
They’re like a less progressive Tool
A slightly edgier hard rock like Breaking Benjamin or Red
Every time I listen to them those bands springing to mind
| |
I like them way better than anything I have heard by any of those bands
Found this a little less appealing than Destructor but I still liked it
| |
Digging the hell out of these singles
| |
Dug this quite a bit. Not as good as Self Destructor, but this album is shaping up to be another solid 3.8 from the boys
| |
Chevelle has always been a notch or two higher than Breaking Benjamin, Red, Three Days Grace... Much more consistent.
| |
At this point I'd rate Chevelle higher than Deftones tbh
| |
chevelle has always been awesome
| |
Loving his honesty in that quote. Rather than the masturbatory shit that artists usually say about how ThIs iS tHe BeSt ShIt WeVe EvEr DoNe etc. etc.
| |
Great track, I prefer it to the first. If Pete is tired of Chevelle, he ought to take a break and dabble in something else. I’d rather he did something for himself than force music out for the sake of the fans. I know if their fans said “we want 3 albums in 1 year” they’d do everything they could to make it happen, but a hiatus would be good for them. Come back in a couple of years when they’re feeling refreshed
| |
Also I definitely agree with Parabola, this track is 100% about Trump
| |
Not really a fan of this track. Loved the first single, but this one sort of blends together, and the line about grabbing em by the peach is maybe too on the nose.
| |
Always thought it was awesome they released an album every two years but now that we know they were forced to do it and basically were slaves it should probably be time for them to chill regardless of the quality.
| |
Yeah banana I agree. Chevelle is better than Deftones.
| |
I don’t understand how nitpicky some people are on Chevelle. Judging from these singles, it’s sounds just as grand as Sci-Fi Crimes and I consider that album a Classic imho.
| |
Sci-fi crimes is their worst tho, despite having their best opener
| |
Sci fi has their best song (shameful metaphors)
| |
shameful metaphors is like B minus tier chevelle
| |
Yeah sci fi crimes is amazing
