I'm really digging this, can't wait for this album
| |
sounds like a Dark Tranquillity b-side, not necessarily a bad thing but it's not amazing by any means
| |
I dig it, really stoked for this album. Agreed its nothing amazing, but hopefully the rest of the album will be better.
| |
i never get this type of metal, just feels like arena stuff with harsh vox
| |
yeah this sounds exactly like a DT track, not sure why they aren't trying to do something more interesting
| |
It's decent but yeah

Banger
| |
the fact they thought this should be their first single worries me a lot lol i have zero expectations now
| |
Hm, no.
| |
90% of DT B-sides sound much better than this
| |
well hmm, I was really looking forward to this and it didn't really disappoint, but yeah it sounds like an unreleased DT song from somewhere in the past decade. I got really excited when that lead part came in, but it was just kinda, meh. Where the heck are the Jesper riffs we've been hoping for? Why is this thing just drenched in DT synths and basic melodies, I feel like we're already getting this with new DT. Oh well, it's a solid song and their sound is one that I enjoy for sure as a fan of modern DT, just hoping the rest of the album is more riff heavy.
| |
Just go listen to Be'lakor instead, these guys (save for Stanne) are washed unfortunately
| |
Damn this was really lame : ( very unimpressive and generic for such established members. They can do so much better ffs...
| |
weak
| |
Where my dude masterchief
| |
Yep, sounds like DT.
| |
Boring. Bummer.
| |
i'm confused as to what every one thought this would sound like given the line-up
| |
I expected it to sound something like this but the quality to be much higher
| |
This kinda sucks.
| |
I was hoping for more riffs, dual guitar harmonies, less synths, more extreme, with Stanne on vocals
| |
"i'm confused as to what every one thought this would sound like given the line-up"
yeah it pretty much met my expectations based on this alone
| |
When this comes out I'll listen to it, give it a 3.5, and never think about it again
| |
That's awesome that you think it will be great! I'm hoping so too, but maybe a little early to judge
| |
I was kinda just expecting Clayman again but with no hooks and worse guitar tones and yknow what I wasn't too far off
| |
Solid track, sounds like what you'd expect given the lineup
| |
"i'm confused as to what every one thought this would sound like given the line-up"
Faster, or maybe like this but with better riffs.
| |
Lmao who actually thought their new stuff wasn't going to sound like this though
| |
i figured it would sound like this, was hoping for what deathconscious said
| |
this is just DT but everyone except Mikael is wearing fake mustache disguises and going by absurd names like "Strömbad" and "Svensson"
| |
Sounds exactly like DTs newer material. Not a bad thing but we still have DT around… was expecting something new or at least old In Flames worship.
| |
As much as I think we all want this to be a call back to the classics, we just get retirement village melodeath.
| |
this is Cyhra with harsh vocals.
| |
Oh, here we have a music video:
https://youtu.be/WByGv-qdZ4w
| |
After it grew on me a bit I really like this. Can't wait to see what they come up with because the line-up is killer.
| |
Liked this quite a bit but that solo was horribly mid
| |
Wish these guys would drop the synths already
| |
"Liked this quite a bit but that solo was horribly mid"
To be fair, I don't think there's more than two or three DT and IF songs that have memorable solos, and that's a lot of songs we're talking. It's "solos" like this one where I just see it has a bridge with a guitar lead over it lol
| |
Interesting
The Jester Race
December Flower
Wayfarer
Food for the Gods
The Hive
Jester Script Transfigured
Embody the Invisible
Scorn
Zombie Inc
Coerced Coexistence
I could keep going but gonna say there's more than a couple bangers from In Flames alone
| |
*yawn*
| |
lol okay
| |
5/5
All jokes aside, not too bad.
Props for mentioning Coerced Coexistence, super underrated IF track for sure.
| |
True true Coerced is one of my favorites from Colony fo sho
| |
for sure, it's one of their best
bloc only listens to the cloud connected remix, club connected.
| |
Coerced Coexistence is def one of their best songs.
"bloc only listens to the cloud connected remix, club connected."
Now you're speaking my language son
| |
Solid track but nothing more, hope the rest is far better
| |
New Banger:

| |
Banger indeed
| |
they should have premiered this as their first single, get me on the phone with their PR
| |
Eh, that was ok I guess. Nothing special.
| |
better than the last song but again it feels more like a DT b-side
| |
Yeah its better. Still not great, but a nice little jam.
| |
still sounds exactly like a DT track but with better riffs, would appreciate the same level of riffage with a bit more interesting structure
| |
Yeah they really are staying within the box with these two songs
| |
rofl the first single has a 3.95 rating on rym. probably the band members rated themselves
| |
To be fair, the two singles released so far are better than anything IF released post Clayman
| |
strongly disagree honestly even Battles has a couple of songs that are more interesting and have more replay value than these
| |
Gross.
| |
RYM is a joke anyway so who cares
| |
can't believe other people like a thing more than I do, so dumb
| |
new track:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDR52-9Zns4
| |
Really lame.
| |
The main harmony is meat and potatoes Gothenburg. The verses are very by the books. I like the pre-chorus with the synths a lot. The chorus "these are the hours, these are the days, these are the hours" is whatever. The solo is very Claymanish, and I dig it, even if it's predictable old In Flames. That key change can F right off. Every single so far has been very pop in structure which is fine, but I'm hoping for some less verse chorus verse chorus solo rinse and repeat on the whole album.
It also feels like they are recording and releasing singles as they go. Like did they wrap up recording the album before releasing Shadowminds or is the LP just a constant work in progress?
| |
It's just so by the numbers at this point and it has already been done so much better. Such a boring song. And yeah that key change is hilariously cheesy
| |
I like the key change because the song changes into a better key, as opposed to DT's "Identical to None", where it changes from a good key to one that's not as good.
As much as I respect Stanne, I feel that he doesn't really fit with the music.
| |
RYM is better

New Track
The Needless End: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1fEgBTTxkI
| |
Sounds really Insomnium-ish. Pretty decent. Songwriting is still too safe.
| |
Just found out about this from the in flames fanpage, sounds like a happier and more energetic dark tranquillity I guess. Not bad
Some of the IF fanboys are really obnoxious though, gotta say
| |
I like this a lot more than new in flames, regardless if it isn't breaking new grounds
| |
