I didn't expect it to be so great, it's fucking awesome.
| |
Not the deafheaven that we want but the one we need.
| |
Shots riffed!
| |
If the rest of the songs are as good as this it will be my favorite black metal inspired album of the last ten years easily.
| |
whats with the level up noise at the start, or whatever that effect is, i forget
| |
Nintendo, Japanese, lol
| |
I remember him saying he wanted this project to be about Norse mythology and his almighty mentor Ihsahn was like, that's over done son, why don't you write about something closer and more meaningful to you, and he was like, Japanese mythology it is
| |
oof. whos the bassist here, some cool shit going on
| |
Considering the band has 3 guitarists between Matt, Nergal (Behemoth) and the guy from Emperor, I'd bet it's one of them.
| |
That was definitely solid. Very cool of Matt to go in this direction.
| |
Holy crap. I have legitimately been waiting for this since we first heard his intentions so many years ago. This is incredible.
| |
Snuck in some more Nintendo sounds in the instrumental break about halfway in the song lmao.
| |
right?! all i hear is friggin coins
| |
Not surprised that this is good. His black metal track on the Roadrunner United album was amazing.
| |
I was just talking about this in a thread recently! Hype
Edit: now that I’ve heard it…nevermind lol
| |
based Matt Heafy?
| |
pretty interesting; his harsh vocals would (obviously) fit a more hardcore aproach like Celeste better imo, but it's not bad at all
| |
I'd take an album of this over anything Trivium has done since Ascendency.
| |
Eh it's alright
| |
Vocals ruin this.
| |
@get low I strongly agree
| |
Corniest vocals I’ve heard all year but guitars are good.
| |
"I'd take an album of this over anything Trivium has done since Ascendency"
Good take tbh
| |
Decent Trivium song.
| |
I’d rather have my ding dong chopped off than have to hear either.
| |
Pics or it didn’t happen?
| |
Kkkkkkkky yeahhhhh I’m Dr Rockso!
| |
Really cool stuff. Matt Heafy is an amazing talent but until the most recent Trivium albums, I've never really enjoyed any of his music. It just lacked an identity, I guess.
| |
pretty sweet
| |
There's an extraordinary amount of questionable stylistic decisions crammed into this single track. I kind of like the cleans even if they are reminiscent of modern male Evanescence.
| |
Yea, really sweet this one
| |
vocals are stale af. ruined an otherwise decent song
| |
Ibaraki lol
That's like calling your band "New Jersey".
| |
Yea, it's like calling your band Boston or Kansas, how weird is that?
| |
I'm so iffy on Matt's screams nowadays. One day I vibe with them, the next I can't stand them
Great song all in all tho
| |
Vocals aren’t as solid as they sometimes are in Trivium, but this is still pretty sweet.
| |
@kalk or Chicago! How dumb!
| |
lol new jersey, guess that tamashii didn't houkai itself
would have ignored this by default but the thread has me interested gj gang
| |
I'm sorry, this freakin sucked lol
| |
Nah it's somewhere on the bell curve.
| |
Outside the vocals, there is some cool stuff going on. Those cleans are really bad though. That shit is even cornier than soilwork cleans. Harsh vocals are ok I guess
| |
The clean vocals are really not well implemented into the mix or the instrumental. They're just there hanging above the riffs like they were imported from an entirely different song
| |
Yeah, it sounds like they just wanted the song to have clean vocals so they just sound awkward and forced
| |
I like his cleans so I'm cool with it, but I can definitely see what you mean
| |
I'm also not a big fan of the clean vocals, they don't go with the style of the song.
| |
Maybe it's because I am a singer, but I like these gentle cleans in contrast to the music. Works really well imo
| |
Yeah the cleans are welcome and can stay. The whole song can stay for dinner.
| |
matt heafy's report on everything he learned playing smt games
| |
dig the heavy sections and ruffs, cleans are pretty whatever and aint doing much for me
| |
Very excited about this, i love how this actually has pretty good production. Sad the drums are a bit too low and the vocals too loud. oh well, still hyped about the full album
| |
His cleans still suck
Rest is okay
| |
Yeah, I really like when there are cleans in a otherwise straight BM or BM influenced song, like for example Ulver did on their debut album but I don't know about those harsh vocals - they totally fit to the music Trivium are playing but I don't know if they fit into this.. song still atleast instrumentally slaps
| |
harsh vox are terrible on this, cleans are pretty cringy too
| |
i mean, by bm standards the cleans are ok at worse
| |
got a coin, fucking rad
| |
Trivium vocals in black metal is the absolute worst.
| |
Yea, the song lays everything to waste \m/
| |
Instrumentally this is kinda cool, vocals wise this bloooooows
| |
Guys stfu the song is a 4.0
| |
heafy ruined this song, but even then instrumentals are still boring af
| |
this is exactly the kinda garbage id expect from nuclear blast
| |
It's a fucking tune, agreed
| |
Storm, I love you bro, you’re OG, but nah, this sucks.
| |
Never got into emperor, just sounds too hokey. Ihsahn is a good vocalist tho
| |
yeah not digging the cleans
| |
While instrumentally this okay (sometimes even very-very good), but the vocals really ruined this. The harsh = meh, and adding the cleans were terrible idea (such as the Nintendo sounds).
Pass.
| |
seriously though, the Mario coin sound, is it a joke or what? I feel like i'm missing something
| |
Why do the cleans just float above everything else?
| |
This is trash
| |
"assisted by mentor Ihsahn"
absolutely dying to know what this means
| |
Ihsahn composed the Trivium intro tracks for the last 2-3 albums. They've been 'writing' this album for years apparently - trying to make a black metal album in Heafy's visage [mostly just dropping Emperor names as much as possible].
| |
yo what this is sick
| |
