After years of speculation, uncertainty and partial or total hoaxes, Godspeed You! Black Emperor's mythical 1994 demo "All Lights Fucked on the Hairy Amp Drooling" has finally surfaced. The cassette, said to have only existed in 33 copies spread to family and friends, was believed to be a lost cause by many fans.
On February 4th 2022, a rip was leaked to the internet via 4chan's music board /mu/ and spread like wildfire, with many fans believing it to be real or at the very least the most convincing hoax yet. Though both the band and their current label Constellation Records Ten refused to comment initially on the leak, band founder and frontman Efrim Menuck uploaded an official lossless digital release to the group's bandcamp page on February 14th 2022, adding:
"this was a retirement letter,
recorded spring/summer/fall summer of 1993.
all of it by efrim, and a little bass from mauro.
vocals on $13.13 by d.c., acoustic gtr. snippet and backwards hash by dan-o.
no relation to the band that followed.
all proceeds from sales going to the CJPME's campaign to provide medical oxygen to the Gaza Strip.
be gentle.
