Opening groove is sick, and the drums in the second half sound massive
| |
That melodic section was unexpected. Getting heavy flashbacks to I / Catch Thirty Three groove wise. Looking forward to the whole record.
| |
Honestly probably my favorite single they’ve released since Obzen, that groove is classic Meshuggah
| |
Excited for this album, but I don't think I'm ever gonna enjoy this drum sound.
| |
Rips
| |
yea slays
that opening is so damn dirty
| |
Damn I love the melody on that bridge
| |
damn this sounds cool as fuck
| |
This whoops ass. Also yeah that melodic bridge is niceeeee
| |
Rules. Cant wait for this.
It's the year of meshuggah yall
| |
Best April Fools joke ever honestly
| |
melodic part [3] outro cool too
| |
This is so good. Like it a lot more than the first one
| |
This is classic Meshuggah.
| |
Always nice when they go melodic for a bit
| |
decent tune will be a gud ablum
| |
kicks ass. loving the two singles so far, album should slay
| |
V good
| |
This will be fun.
| |
Mega true bloc! Can't wait to hear it, saving it for tomorrow, hyyyyyppppppe.
| |
Production is a huge step down.
| |
Not happy about the drum tone tbh but everything else sounds massive.
| |
The drums sound fine except for the kick. But that kick sound is pretty not good
| |
I never understood how bands this late in their career can fuck up production like this...
| |
Nothing is perfect guys, lets just keep the hype train for this rolling m/
| |
Drum tone is fine. Quit being production snobs and stop complaining.
| |
I promise, I really try to give this band a chance with every new song, but i just don’t get this.
| |
It sounds like shit, but I would chalk that up YouTube quality. That being said, production is definitely a legitimate gripe to have, it can change how the song sounds/feels entirely.
| |
If you've been trying to "get" the band for years and havent yet you probably wont.... lol
| |
I agree, I probably won’t. I’ve said it before in other threads, I want to like them. They’re a respected and acclaimed band in the metal community, and I’ll probably keep listening just out of sheer curiosity and that desire to want to like them
| |
Too many sound engineers in these Meshuggah threads haha. I hope Haake takes note for the next album!
| |
Their standards for production are inconsistent at best anywhomst
| |
Ppl are weirdos yup. It's like ppl try their hardest to find slight faults in every production job on every album that comes out. It's always the same ppl bitching about the production to. Nothing is perfect it sounds fine chill tf out lol.
| |
It’s not weird to share music discussion on a music discussion website
| |
This release is superb.
| |
Yeah song rules
| |
Pretty reasonable to complain about the production when you consider how amazing Violent Sleep sounded lol.
| |
It's all opinion man of course I'm not personally huge on the live sounding production on violent sleep this sounds better to my ears. But yeah I can see ppl loving violent sleep production forsure. And alot of folks are going to dig the production job here to. Eye of the beholder.
| |
ay ay aye of the beholder
| |
The kick drum sounds like shit. I'll probably be able to get past it without it making this unlistenable but it's still pretty bad
| |
meshuggah releases meshuggah song that sounds like the other meshuggah songs that meshuggah released on other meshuggah albums
| |
definitely a messhugah song lol. I’m going to go back and listen to Nothing and Obzen instead. they actually tried to write different songs then.
| |
"I promise, I really try to give this band a chance with every new song, but i just don’t get this."
same.
| |
You could say they're immutable
| |
Production here is damn good. Clean out those ears.
| |
OOOooooh yeah loving this! Drum sound is a little bit too close to that silly blown-up nonsense for me, but it's ok still. Song itself is GOOD.
| |
this song is incredible tbh - it just unforgivably tumbles through a deep take on a lot their formulas. Not a single -new moment- here, but the arrangement of the parts feels like a profoundly sensitive look into what these various established sounds can do. Something that comes with spending decades playing "the same thing".
Tldr; feels good man
| |
Yes, for sure! Love it more than The Abysmal Eye.
| |
Can't wait for this album man, fuckin hell these dudes rule
| |
Prob gonna get flamed by this but this time around the chugging feels overdone, not feeling this single, i loved the opening groove and the melodic part tho
| |
"Too many sound engineers in these Meshuggah threads haha"
They are all over Sputnik tbh lol
| |
And that's because this is a music website (...is it?) and production is a vital part of how we experience music. Nothing weird about that as far as I'm concerned.
| |
"Too many sound engineers in these Meshuggah threads haha"
Lmao
| |
"And that's because this is a music website (...is it?) and production is a vital part of how we experience music. Nothing weird about that as far as I'm concerned."
I agree, but it just bugs me how sometimes albums are harshly criticized for things like that, like if it was barely listenable which isn't really the case
| |
We are the sound plebeians your (free jazz) mother warned you about
| |
Not trying to be a snob about it, but production can really effect my enjoyment of an album, especially drum sound. There have been albums I immediately turned off as soon as I heard the drum sound. That's not the case here although I don't enjoy the kick sound
| |
100% agree Eak, same for me.
| |
Production is a huge part of the overall sound, so why wouldn’t it be deemed important. Nobody said it was barely listenable, Dtype.
| |
Man, wanted to like this but it was just there. Hoping repeat listens when the album drops changes my mind.
| |
Drums sound clean to me
| |
I don't want a "clean sounding" Meshuggah, I want a filthy sounding Meshuggah lol.
| |
@TheSpirit - keep trying. I did and they connected hard and now im obsessed
Just find the right album of theirs that connects
| |
This is a good song, but I'm hoping it will be one of my least favorites on the new release
I prefer Abysmal Eye
| |
Really enjoy the groove on this one.
| |
Shit fucking rules
| |
i mean, it's solid and they are a very technically impressive band. I was bored by the end though, it's a meshuggah song
| |
