Not the worst thing I've heard from them but overall I'm just not gelling with the post Joey and Paul material.
From .5 onwards the riffs in particularly these heavier songs are all blending together. The cool riffs and guitar interplay is lacking, the interesting change ups from Iowa are nowhere to be found and the song writing is just kind of weird and disjointed but not in the interesting way.
I do like Jim's new effects he's using in the melodic guitar part but not much else I'm getting excited about here.
Safe to say this album is going to be in line with the last two.
|
| |
The two singles are alright but are slightly underwhelming. I doubt this will be as good as WANYK.
|
| |
prepubescent anger the band strikes back
local 12yos get on this shit asap
|
| |
New songs are pretty alright. Last album was dope, but still lacking a certain quality. Kinda like the recent masks, something‘s just not the same
|
| |
this track is an absolute brick, fucking love it
|
| |
I'm honestly just flashed with their percussion section every damn time I listen to them. Corey's new mask is fucking great aswell.
|
| |
Let's hope there's some variety on the album
|
| |
Really want them to just branch out and so something weird. Every single they’ve dropped starting since 2014 sounds really samey
|
| |
omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg
|
| |
Awful band
|
| |
WANYK was going to be hard to top anyway.
|
| |
I saw a ton of hate for the chorus in the WANYK thread and I don't think it's bad but it's not especially good either. I've never been super into Slipknot and I can't see this song being one to convert anybody into a fan. It feels like your average Slipknot tune.
|
| |
Boring chorus and the same verses as always
There's a cool guitar part around the second minute tho so there's that
|
| |
Not bad honestly. There's some nice guitar work here.
|
| |
Wasn't very impressed by Chapeltown Rag. I'm glad the new song is much better. Sid Wilson looks awesome in the video
|
| |
Not too shabby, but definitely safe for them. We are not your kind was the best thing they released in 15 years so it's gonna be hard to not compare that album with this one.
|
| |
do they need to shoehorn in the butt rock choruses?
|
| |
Pretty standard slipknot song, nothing amazing but a decent headbanger. Hopefully the rest of the album has some more variety.
|
| |
ive never given slipknot a proper listen. butt rock aint my thing. should i give it a try?
|
| |
no, listen to house of gold and bones by stone sour, it's way better than anything slipknot have ever done
|
| |
There’s nothing to hate here, and as for myself nothing to love either. The problem is that they can’t conjure any emotion nowadays, which would be essential no matter how catchy or technical they can be. I’m sure it’ll please their core fan base, so good on them, and for hardcore fans there’s still a lot of earlier materials to enjoy.
|
| |
pika trolling again
|
| |
That guitar solo/bridge section is actually pretty cool, otherwise it’s a Slipknot song. If you like them you’ll probably at least enjoy it, if you don’t it’s not going to change your mind.
|
| |
"If you like them you’ll probably at least enjoy it, if you don’t it’s not going to change your mind."
True
|
| |
Bro called Slipknot butt rock.
|
| |
Pika you strike me as a guy with a massive neckbeard
|
| |
This sure is the one Slipknot single they've been doing for like a decade but if it keeps Corey too busy to make another solo album I'm satisfied
|
| |
@DavidYowi - Don’t forget the dirty ass fedora and sword collection for the trifecta of neckbeardism.
|
| |
isn't it southern metal and rush fans that are supposed to be neckbeards
|
| |
Hate to break it to u chief but black metal is the most neckbearded genre, followed closely by prog and electro-swing
|
| |
Chuckled at the video thumbnail at least
|
| |
Corey lookin like a rage comic smdh
|
| |
I'm getting too old for this angsty hollow adolescent bullshit. It's official now.
|
| |
Band definitely needs a "Cradle of Filth" like member changeup where you replace the song writers with young people who are inspired by Slipknot.
Keep Clown, keep Corey, get a bunch of guys in their 20s who want to write something interesting.
|
| |
"Corey lookin like a rage comic smdh"
lol
|
| |
that acapella section at the beginning almost made me turn off the song. Its cool i guess. WANYK was so bad lol
|
| |
"Corey lookin like a rage comic smdh"
lmao can't unsee it now
Just heard the song and it's better than I thought it would be. I like how the DJ and even the bassist get a moment in the song to shine
|
| |
that acapella section at the beginning almost made me turn off the song. [2]
WANYK was so bad lol [2]
|
| |
They were always bad LOL
|
| |
damn this blew up since dis moning
|
| |
lol @ everyone ganging up on the chu
>keeps Corey too busy to make another solo album
LMAO
|
| |
He's right about the butt rock choruses tho
|
| |
lmao thought the necklace was a dollar sign at first i was like u gotta make it that obvious?
|
| |
nothing wrong with some butt
|
| |
That's been their symbol forever
|
| |
decent nude muddle minus that utter crap chorus
wouldnt know they only have a couple good songs
mask looks like sthg between a skull n a dinosaur
|
| |
I thought WANYK was a breath of fresh air for them.
Honestly, this is a little stale to me. Like a fart didn't totally leave the room yet. Weird.
|
| |
" Like a fart didn't totally leave the room yet. Weird."
What the hell, lol
|
| |
godawful production and featuring a weak chorus, but the verses are fine. overall pretty mediocre song for them. take it or leave it...
|
| |
We Are Not Your Kind was good but wtf is this
|
| |
this sure sounds like new slipknot
back2iowaigo
|
| |
Decentish
|
| |
Nah, pretty good song.
|
| |
Song = ehhhhhh okay?
|
| |
this bands formula is like RAH RAH RAH ''hard as nails'' verses and then super squeaky clean melodic chorus, but its not even catchy. just annoying.
btw its so weird theres so many members yet it feels like nothing happens that a 4 piece band couldn't do. in fact various 3 man bands have made more interesting and diverse/sound rich/dense music.
|
| |
yall so silly forreal tho
|
| |
God I'm sorry to tell yall this but Corey's head looks like a stitch up wee wee in the thumbnail. Putting it lightly. tehe
|
| |
Lmfaooo I will never unsee that.
|
| |
Corey Feldman sounding better than ever,
|
| |
"btw its so weird theres so many members yet it feels like nothing happens that a 4 piece band couldn't do."
Sure bruh 🙄
|
| |
The production is so flat sounding. This should be a huge sounding track but it just isn’t. A continual gripe is the kick drum sound Jay uses as well… also flat and lifeless.
|
| |
Idk man the dude who plays floor tom really brings a lot to the table
|
| |
"this bands formula is like RAH RAH RAH ''hard as nails'' verses and then super squeaky clean melodic chorus, but its not even catchy. just annoying."
Hahaha so accurate actually
|
| |
Dont dig the chorus but everything else is good. Haven't paid attention to these since vol3, perhaps i should check out some of their other stuff? Still blast Iowa every now and again.
|
| |
Everything Slipknot has released since Vol 3. has been mostly the same, they've tried to get credibility as "real metal" by writing heavier riffs but also stay mainstream with pop choruses.
There are bands who can do it but Slipknot aren't one of them.
|
| |
This has to be one of the worst songs ever recorded.
|
| |
Whole comment section throwing shit on We Are Not Your Kind while it has like a 3.6 average, LOL never change Spuntik.
Song is decent, album might be too.
|
| |
@PotsyTater lmao
|
| |
I just watched the music video and I ask why the hell is the drummer headbanging during the intro acapella lol
|
| |
@bloc
Inside his shell he waits and bleeds
|
| |
SLIPKNOT_BALLOON_KNOT_007@HOTMAIL.COM type shit with this song
|

"I just watched the music video and I ask why the hell is the drummer headbanging during the intro acapella lol"
Acapellas are metal af, you didn't know?
|
| |
"Dont dig the chorus but everything else is good. Haven't paid attention to these since vol3, perhaps i should check out some of their other stuff? Still blast Iowa every now and again."
WANYK is one of their best albums imo. Really consistent songwriting in general, and by far their best album lyrically. I'd recommend checking it out if you dig this.
|
| |

This.
|

i could do without that intro, otherwise it's kinda cool
|
| |
"I just watched the music video and I ask why the hell is the drummer headbanging during the intro acapella lol"
not his fault that you don't feel it
|
| |
it kinda is, because he's part of the reason why it's so bland in the first place
|
| |
"not his fault that you don't feel it"

I used to be one of those guys but then I left high school and realized nobody gives a flying shit what you like. Some of my favorite albums would certainly be considered trash by a lot of people.

"not his fault that you don't feel it"
Oh I feel it, just not 1 second into the song. Overall, this track is easily better than anything I heard on the last album.

Unexpected.
Whenever these guys drop something it's a big event. we'll see how this one turns out
|
| |
This started off really predictable/we've heard this before but then actually took a few interesting structural twists and turns
|

Sucks

song is sick, corey sounds great
