Review Summary: a perfect album the get scared to death. Enjoy!
Hear the new nightmarish offering by German one-man project XCHNUM MIIIMIIIKRY.
The music of XCHNUM MIIIMIIIKRY aka PUPPENGOTT is not for the faintest of heart. His work dwells in the realms of experimental and extreme music combining elements of black metal, industrial, electronic music, gothic, dark wave and ambient. Sounds pretty sick right? Well it is.
Artist's new album "Xchnum Autopsie" is a terrorizing mixture of haunting samples, eerie synths, machine gun-like drums, distorted guitar tremolos and hysterical scream vocals evoking the likes of early Mayhem and SIlencer.
Tracks like "Alle, die du liebst" and "Ilse Glander'' are atmospheric noisy and at times glitchy assault in your psyche and eardrums while songs "Geschenke?" and "Achat" offer more traditional black metal vibes which are sure to appeal to orthodox fans of the genre.
The guest vocals of Marla Van Horn bring much needed though fleeting moments of beauty on songs like "Heischender Spatz" and "Yassin & Eileen" while 12-minute title track "Xchnum Autopsie" feels like you're trapped in medieval torture chamber.
"Xchnum Autopsie" is a challenging yet rewarding listen for those who are willing to appreciate the beauty of something that chaotic and horrendous.
