all pop punk is MGK now
|

Good point. I guess MGK sounds like very by the numbers pop-punk so now any by the numbers pop-punk just makes me think of him

Man, Im really enjoying this. Bummed that they're calling it a day and that Im not gonna be able to catch them on the farewell tour.
|
| |
@Sitar you just made me go check their tour schedule and seeing that there is no Chicago show yet and they are open the sept 20th weekend, they are 99.99% confirmed for Riot Fest!
|
| |
Yeah, i was gonna catch the farewell tour but then my wife got tickets to Destrage's farewell which is the same weekend so mixed feelings lol. At least I got to catch them last year when they toured with Offspring and Simple Plan. They still put on a great show!
|
| |
Say what, Destrage is disbanding??
|
| |
What a throwback show you saw last year.
|
| |
"Say what, Destrage is disbanding??"
Yeah... :'( and they're only playing farewell shows in Tokyo, Milan and London...
|
| |
"What a throwback show you saw last year."
Lol yeah. Last year was all about making my 16 yo self happy.

I find it strange when bands like this are praised for simply going back to their supposedly rawer, "heavier" roots. I listen to Sum 41 because I want a catchy tune, and personally I find this album lacking in that department. If I wanted "heavy" I'd be listening to something else.

yeah lol thats why ive never really been into their harder side vs their poppier stuff. theyre a pop punk band so their version of "heavy" has on the last four albums esp felt a splash too octane for me. chuck is generally still cool though

lul pretty much every song on here is highly catchy wdym

Yeah no issue with the catchiness here and the level of heaviness fits like a glove
Biggest complaint here is lyrics/lacking emotion (esp for a final album)

@sowing It's no Yellowcard self-titled!

Fair play, this is a pretty good album. Any positive opinions I had of this band were extinguished 20+ years ago with the incessant over-playing of In Too Deep, save for a mini-love in with Pieces.
Time for a second chance I think.

I retract that somewhat, Pieces was a goddamn masterpiece (pun intended) and should have been a hint to re-engage.

This album is real catchy and fun. Might have to lower my blink and green day ratings because of how much more successful Sum 41 was at cashing in on the nostalgia.

this is much worse than both of those imo

I think the blink album had a few really good highlights, but overall was pretty meh
