If someone had given this to me two months ago, I would have hated it.
As for getting it now, this is pretty good.

Chan, its not really metallic grind like DEP or anything. I can't compare it to much really. Its really great though.

He was probably taking a swipe at me cause I liked it so it must not sound like grind. Chan is sneaky and subtle like that.

hahaha i for one love it. i mean i loved their releases with 40 second bursts of chaos but this is a different direction than that. i really like the fact that they took a step in a different direction but managed to write good songs and keep their signature sound, a lot of bands that try something new cant manage that.
i like the vocals too, it seems a lot less repetitive. great stuff.. i need a little more time to take this in though

I kinda like this. It's alot better than I thought it would be. Spazz Grind/Metal/Noisecore is quite cool as shown here.
EDIT: So I got this tonight and am listening to it as we speak. I do think it is kindof Metallic Grind, but not like Deathgrind Metallic Grind. Maybe like Converge meets grind. It's very cool. This Message Edited On 06.19.07

You probably like Plague Soundscapes because its very fast, spazzy, relentless etc.
If you read interviews with The Locust, their last three releases sort of follow a linear story line. Plague Soundscapes was meant to symbolize the destruction of Society as we know it, thus it had to be fast, unpolished, and relentless. Safety Second, Body Last was sort of the incubation period; the time right before society began to rebuild itself and was merely sitting as a bubbling reaction, waiting to start rebuilding, which is evidenced by the ambiance prevalent on that release. New Erections is now the flawed rebuilding of society, falling into some of the same traps over and over again. The slower parts I look at as symbolizing the things society is doing differently to correct the issues from before, while the faster parts are merely a rush and careless lack of attention to detail, which will eventually fall back into the same place they were before.
That was the facts of what they've stated, coupled with a small personal analysis. New Erections sounds the way it sounds because that is what it is trying to be symbolic of. Personally, I think it is their best work to date, as it still remains chaotic, but feels more meticulously thought out than their previous works.
And yes, I am fully aware that I sound like the biggest dork on the planet right now.
