I always thought the best way to get into maiden was through albums, not compliations.
Any of these would get the job done
Number Of The Beast
Powerslave
Brave New World
Piece Of Mind
Dance Of Death
| | | You missed Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
| | | Yeah i didn't know if that would be a good place to begin with...
Its one of my favourites, but takes a while to sink in.

Okay, cheers mate. I think i'll go from the top of the list to the bottom XD lol
| | | ^@ this little world, there really isn't a BEST Iron Maiden record, they all have some great tracks, and some good moments. I would just say start at the begining, and move your way up. If you would want me opinion on some BEST ones, SEVENTH SON OF A SEVENTH SON, seems to be a huge favorite, along with NUMBER OF THE BEAST, and to include PEACE OF MIND.
My comment about this compilation disc, I would have liked to see IRON MAIDEN do what bruce did a few years ago, when he was soloing it out there, do a LIVE IN STUDIO A or something. I think IM did a live type in the studio thing, but never an official release, so it would have been cool to say, release, the studio tracks...and then CD2, be a live in the studio session, to capture the band now. I think the band sounds pretty good on alot of live youtube videos, and it would just be cool to have a permenant copy of some live songs, done now.
Any one else think that would be cool?
| | | The artwork is so fucking great
| | | Great review, to me the only fault in this album is that i would have replaced children of the damned with rime of the ancient mariner so there'd been 4 songs from their best album powerslave but that's just my opinion
| | | Good compilation and cool artwork indeed.
| | | Needs more Rime Of The Ancient Marineer.
| | | Don't get the compilations for bands like Iron Maiden and Rush. Sure, for artists like Madonna, Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, etc. it's great, but with certain artists, you just need to get their entire albums.
That being set, the first Maiden album I owned was Death on the Road
| | | Ah my first introduction to Maiden and 'heavy metal'. A good introduction to Maiden history, but in hindsight it's awkwardly Bruce-washed and has some exclusions. Great album IF you were just getting into metal and Maiden, which was the case for me in 2009 when I picked it up.
Might be a cash grab that only benefits a small demographic, but I was one of em.
