Nice Suffocation album from their older days; the tracks are more basic then their newer stuff, but still an overall good death metal album. The vocals are a bit too distorted though.

Hahahahaha but you're splitting hairs dude. I mean, the review is good for what it is, to the point and accurate in a general sense. I know you know dm better than about 99.9999999% of this site but because you notice imperfections with a description in sound doesn't mean it's wrong or should be negged. The mass majority of us don't really care for nit-pick details (whether this is melodic in a sense or not is a petty argument if you ask me).

this album pretty much made brutal death metal, i don't see where any melody is a present characteristic except for a few parts, not that melody is bad, it's just few and far between on this album. Classic shit, heaviest album of 91

I don't know what it is, but the vocals irritate the hell out of me. Not trying to insult them, and please don't make this into a "You don't like this band? But you listen to X band! Therefore you suck" arguement. Just really, the grind vocals drive me insane!
