I'm telling you, metalcore is holding up a big middle finger to anyone saying it's a dead genre. Yeah, maybe it's not totally innovative or completely original, but it's damn fine music all the same. Making unique works in this day and age is difficult as it is.

Absolutely. I only wish that the post hardcore scene would demonstrate the same vigor. There have been a few good examples as of late, but mostly it's dead/dying.

Well I think that's partially due to groups like Hail the Sun, A Lot Like Birds, etc. who set a certain sound that bands have been using as a template. Leads to soulless guitar work and an overabundance of screaming tenors that literally all sound the same.

This album is all around incredibly dope. It's like a combination of the best of the Hardcore and Metalcore scenes thrown together masterfully. Might eventually raise my rating to a 5. We'll see.

In response to the earlier post-hardcore comment, it's definitely frustrating as I grew up loving the genre. There were a few DGD inspired acts that managed to clog the scene in almost its entirety. I like Hail The Sun (ALLB less), a fair amount actually, but you're absolutely right when you say that they were the beginning of the mess.

Dayum, by all means my man go for it. I don't foresee it reaching those heights for me, but I can give it a spirit-5 for keeping the music this year consistently high quality, that's for sure.
