Didn’t realise people watch the charts that obsessively, this isn’t a shot but a curiosity thought.

5.0 classic valtinho | June 11th 22
In line with all the other albums from one of my favorite bands. It strikes me as very similar in sound to 2014's Omnipresent, which is my favorite album from Origin. This one is a solid 4, but I am giving it a 5 because it is simply disgusting to see rock bands like Skin Tension and Kardashev all the way up at the top of the list, while this solid death metal album is all the way down at the bottom.

So it turns out this actually is sort of up my alley; it's the right balance of melody and intensity. I still find it borderline comical when death metal vocalists destroy their vocal cords trying to sound like demons amid an otherwise fairly melodic musical soundscape, but probably no moreso than death metal fans find the kind of music I live for annoyingly cheery. Outside of a few rigid personal preferences though, this is a strong release that I can see myself returning to. Early favorites were A Vagabond's Lament and Apparitions in Candlelight.

Very disappointed to see this as the best death metal album of 2022 as of June 11. This is a very soft sound with some blast beat drums and occasional cookie monster vocals just to classify it as metal. It is progressive rock or sludge metal at best, with mostly alternative rock vocals and very delicate instrumentals. This will leave you as puzzled as the Skin Tension Omni album, which refuses to go down in ranking merely because of the novelty of the long duration.

@Piripichotes, valid question, certainly based on that sentence you could justify a higher score (and I may well end up bumping my rating). I tend to be a bit sparing with scores higher than a 4, in this case I find the album a bit overlong and wasn't a huge fan of the spoken word interludes. Overall, a very strong release though.
@Sowing, glad you enjoyed, at least to a solid degree!
