Thanks for pointing that out!
I think putting attention on the artifice is something some, especially those that are maybe a little more serious about their taste, might not like but I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with pointing out the strings pulling the puppets. These guys are very easy to clown on, and it's for mostly those same reasons why they are fun. This isn't gonna top any year-end lists, but it's still a damn good time

Always thought of Dragonforce as a guitar hero/meme band, and maybe they are, but this still kind of goes lol.

never thought of the concept of "major key power metal" but it's so relevant to my taste. I like Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Helloween, Edguy, early Dragonforce, Iced Earth (or, used to), Dream Evil, Primal Fear et al, but get bored of Sonata Arctica, Avantasia, Hammerfall, GloryHammer, Battle Beast, newer Nightwish etc, and that defines the line reasonably well
|
| |
Eh blind guardian and Helloween have a decent mixture of major and minor I'd say

^ So do Dragonforce technically (especially their earlier stuff)
|
| |
Their earlier stuff yeah. Valley of the damned has some solid minor key stuff from what I remember
|
| |
Tbh Dragonforce may still have minor riffage going on but I feel like every time I check out a track it has one of those soaring major choruses and its an immediate turn off for me

i live for soaring major choruses

Yeah, if you don't like soaring choruses, your time is best spent elsewhere. That's kinda their whole thing lol
|
| |
I'm thinking "Valley of the Damned", "My Spirit Will Go On", "Prepare For War", and "Storming the Burning Fields" when I lump Dragonforce into the more serious "minor key" group.
But yeah they also have "Once In A Lifetime" and "Heart of A Dragon", which literally lifts "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" for its verse. Good luck un-hearing that.
