Can't help but love this album. This guy never fails to kick my legs out from under me in a strangely
good way.

Also, only arguably contrived part of this album is the first track. Everything else is too unfiltered to meet the definition of the word.

a healthy dose of snobbery in this thread.

Can someone please help me find this album? Just drop a link in my shoutbox, and I'd greatly appreciate it. Great review, Chan. I really want to hear this album badly now.

Nice you managed to score a copy.

I'm so glad this finally got a review. I preordered it way back when, and is probably my aoty so far.

I read the lyrics from the book while listening for the first time. I read the book in one sitting shortly after. I read the book again while listening. I caught the bus into town later on in the dark, listening to the album with headphones. Damn this album is amazing, each time I listen more and more emotion reveals itself.

Same.
Listened to it during a massive thunderstorm at 4 AM this morning. No one else was up, just me, and I was up in the mountains at 10,000 feet, so the lightning was just above me. It was surreal.

Where do you live NorthHouse? Seems like kind of an awesome place.

I just downloaded this record yesterday, and I'm very anxious to listen to it, but I want to be in the right mood and have the correct mindest before I do so. Should I wait to buy it and read the book, or just dive straight into the album? Is there something to be said for listening to the album cold and finiding a personal interpretation, or is it better to follow the thought process of the artist and learn from his intentions? I realize this is a fairly difficult, if not impossible, question to answer in any objective way; I'm just curious to hear some opinions.

I think personally you have thought about it a bit to much. I got the album first and loved it but I
know chan who have reviewed both book and cd said that the book compliments the abum and gives more
depth. My suggestion is the order the book+cd and start listening to the album whilst it's shipping.

Thanks Felix and Chan. I'm going to give it a spin today, then snag the book and CD from Amazon sometime in the near future. If this record sounds half as cool as your review makes it out to be, I'm in for a really nice, depressing treat. I'll let you guys know what I think.
