I got this a couple of days ago on sale for just $6 US
I'm pretty happy with it so far as I 'm just getting into the Beatles, I just wish there were more songs from their latter albums.
"A happening for Mr. Kite is the best Beatles song ever!"...well from what I've heard from them so far.

The song is called "Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite!", and it is far from the best Beatles song. It's the best on Sgt. Pepper, though.

This album has some great tracks on it, but it's just missing too many to give a complete overview of their discography.

I think some of you are missing the point. This is not a greatest hits collection in a sence where they choose songs it is a number 1 hits, therefore any songs that charted 1 was put on here. Why do you think there is no rubber soul or sgt. peppers on here.

There are, however, other songs that did make number one that aren't on here.

Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper, no singles were released.

is it just me, but is there some kind of a theme/story that can be told with this album? first a guy falls in love, then they break up and he hits rock bottom, they get back together and the world is great ect. maybe my mind was just altered when listening to it last night, but it was like listening to The Wall but in a really sappy way.

dont get me wrong, i love this albumThis Message Edited On 08.12.06

This compiliation is great if only for the fact that it has turned on many new fans to the beatles. Including me!

this was the album that got me into The Beatles.
But now, owning almost all their albums, it has become clear to me that a perfect Beatles compilation is impossible. Especially because most of their best songs haven't been #1 hits, or even singles, at all: While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Happiness is a Warm Gun, And I Love Her, Norwegian Wood, ... I could go on forever. but this album still does a good job, getting most of the Beatle's styles together on one disc.
and a comment to the review: stairway to heaven hasn't been a single at all.

It isn’t near adequate for the Beatles enthusiast, but if I had to pick one album with songs that most influenced my music taste, it would be this one.

For any musician/band that has made it big a greatest hits album is almost guaranteed. But, what happens when you have an incredibly big band, considered by many one of the greatest group of musicians of all timeMaybe the best group ever. Few bands have been able to claim that honor. To be considered great by millions of critics and millions of fans. To have an enduring legacy that, to this day, still holds power over popular musicians. The Beatles is a band like that.
