yea the lack of bluegrass is kinda why i liked this better than his last couple, even if that stuff ruled on collapse for example

collapse wasn't really bluegrass, it was more folk inspired (imo). kentucky is when you got bluegrass

the argument i'd make would be that although it was a banjo, banjo doesn't automatically mean bluegrass

oh, and yeah, it ruled

yeah that's fair. i'm not a bluegrass expert or anything either, it just feels totally different to me than sections on kentucky and roads

(though personally i liked kentucky)

Yeah he's one of my fav drummers in metal. The s/t might be my fav drumming on any album tbh.

the s/t drumming is absolutely fucking insane. He is my favorite drummer as well

I haven't jammed his S/T or Collapse in a while. I should probably get on that. If I remember correctly, I didn't like them because they were pretty much shitty banjocore with rap breakdowns

give them another listen, though. i like the more political nature of those records, it's angrier and makes the bm seem heavier

Album is ridiculously good. I'm wondering how he can pull off such quality material in such a short period of time? I mean, Roads came out about a year ago

I relistened to both while writing my review, and I'd definitely say that S/T holds up, but I think Collapse hasn't aged as well. The layering on it is done poorly imo, as well as the pacing
