Really boring after one listen, still better than Snakes for the Divine. I thought we had the same tastes in metal Adam : ( hahahaha.

yeah after a few listens I think this is probably my favorite from HoF, narrowly edging out Blessed Black Wings

Snakes had a host of really good songs, but in my opinion, the album suffers from Greg Fidelman's suck-ass production. Why they thought it was a good idea to record with the guy responsible for the compressed loudness war that is Death Magnetic is beyond me.

Wizard, can't believe you find this boring. Been a fan of these dudes since Surrounded, and this to me has everything HoF has always had, but even more punch.

I'd say this>Blessed Black Wings>Death is This Communion>Surrounded By Thieves>>>>>>>>>>>Snakes

Dude, you forgot The Art of Self Defense, which is badass and right behind Surrounded; other than that I agree, but I like Snakes. The only reason Snakes suffers is the production, which Goat has stated, it lacks the power that HoF presents. Kurt Ballou did an excellent job of bringing their sound to the record.

This time paired with Converge's Kurt Ballou at the helm, High on Fire have released their most visceral album to date.

I take it back about this being boring, Ballou certainly makes this album what it is and I love it. Possibly the best thing this band has ever written. Seriously, name something that Ballou's done that sucked?

It was both the songs and production. Adam's first paragraph in this review explains it perfectly.

yea the production really hurt Snakes for me, plus the songwriting took a serious dip outside of the title track.

this, however, fucking owns.
