nah. everything before this was pretty much hit and miss. too many bad songs mixed with good ones.

I agree with chan, sort of. Most of the albums before this one are largely hit or miss, but Full Force Galesburg, Nothing For Juice, Beautiful Rat Sunset EP, and Transmissions to Horace (which was an early cassette release) are all consistently great. Regardless, his best songs are scattered throughout his discography, so all of his releases are worth listening to.
