Loads of posts get deleted, mine remains.

Must be the best post then.

"Gabe you can yell all you want. Sorry i do not dig swag rap. Some of the producers are okay
or even excellent, but the content and lyricism leaves much to be desired most of the time.

The best hiphop this year was easily xxx but even that wasn't on the level of mbdtf or vessel
last year. The best scene by far ( Detroit) appeared to be on vacation this year with the
exception of random axe and bad meets evil which were both only solid and of course xxx
which wasn't really a genre defining masterpiece."
lol wat. I never even said anything about "swag rap". Yeah I like Lil B and stuff but this year was fantastic for hip-hop in general. And if you're referring to a lot of "cloud rap" like Main Attrakionz, then that's still not even a fraction of the hip-hop that's been streaming out this year. And I'm not beating my chest or yelling because I put one part in all caps, I was just messing lol

and if you really think Bad Meets Evil was one of the only albums that stood out from a sea of otherwise uninteresting hip-hop releases this year, then...lol[2] I don't think you know much about the 2011 hip-hop beyond the huge Pitchfork commended ones.

I assume swag rap is stuff like Lil B, Soulja Boy, Kreayshawn, mayyybe including some cloud rap with more flow-of-consciousness lyrics (Squadda B, Main Attrakionz, MondreMAN), maybe ASAP Rocky. Either way it's a dumb term, especially if you're criticizing its "content and lyricism", I guess unless you dislike abstract lyrics that aren't pretentious, idk.

I'm not saying cloud rap or swag rap are actual genres, I just don't have a clue what he's talking about or if he even knows.
