Final verdict on this. Had to drop my rating. 4 to 3 5. It's a good follow up to odious. I prefer the debut tho. I miss weird ass kick pedal on the first record.

The problem with a lot of these new 20 buck spin bands and most death metal bands in general nowadays "even tho it's still good" is there's not alot of originality. They just mostly copy the bands their inspired by for the most part. They all sort of just sound the same and blend together. Instead of carving out their own lane like the 80s and 90s bands did their more focused on trying to play like the bands that influenced them. Still good stuff but most dm bands nowdays need to be more original I think. These guys are very clearly a incantation inspired band just like tons of others of the bigger names in the scene. How many more incantation sound alike bands do we need nowadays

I'd say around two

Reminds me of Greta van fleet but in death metal form. Only difference is the death metal knockoffs dont suck and there's a whole lot more of them.

whats the chance that this sounds exactly like every death metal song ive ever heard?

I havent heard this yet, but their other stuff wasnt particularly Incantation-esque. Some Incantation can be found in the sound, sure, but i hear other influences in there.
@hyperion you already know the answer to that.

Cerebral Rot is actually leaning more towards Autopsy, rather than Incantation.
As for the new school of old school, I prefer those few and far between bands that carve their very own niche.

Ulthar being a notable exception. But sure, with so many completely interchangeable bands like Tomb Mold or Witch Vomit fucking around, who still gives a damn? (... or 20 bucks?)

I give a damn lol. There are bands nowdays that carve out their niche but not alot. That's the problem. But I guess that's the beauty of it to look for the ones that do. Lot of searching but it's something to do I guess

It's the one reason why I'm here, actually.
