Haha, pretty sure I read that review before and cringed...
Hard for me to fathom someone thinking Pinback's first album is great and not liking Blue Screen Life either, it seems to me they're very much in the same vein.

yeah its really not much of a change in style
also think that categorising pinback as an 'emo' band is a bit silly. sure they definitely have emo influence but theyre really not what i think of when 'emo' comes to mind

Yeah, agreed. And considering that's the main thrust of a big part of the review, it's not great.

When I read your description of the review, I immediately thought it was gonna be either Brent DiCrescenzo or Ryan Schreiber because of how notorious their writeups are. Buuuuut I guess they're also not the only pretentious dicks on that site

boo is one of my favorite songs. and penelope...
pinback is like deftones. they just have their thing and do it, you can call it what you want but your words don't box them in, they define what they are

I don't think I've listened to them in a year or so, but Pinback's been popping up more in my life over the last few days. Listening now, album still rules

This has all the potential to be a 5. Incredible record! That three-song run from Boo to Penelope is amazing. Very interesting band.
