I can understand why you’d feel that way frost. This album provides everything that a dedicated tool fan would want. But everything a tool fan would want isn’t everything a music fan would want. Leaning into pretentiousness for one is not on the menu for many and this is certainly their most pretentious record even edging out fucking Lateralus. Aside from that, it entirely lacks the moments where tool steps out of their own asses and just writes authentic bangers eg sober, h, hooker with a penis, aenima, schism, vicarious, the pot
