I feel like a lot of people are gaining a new appreciation or nostalgia for it. While of course there's a lot of bad nu-metal, I think some albums were unfairly maligned or overhated when they dropped. A good example for me personally is "Slither" by Earth Crisis. I think its a pretty great album and incorporates nu metal tastefully (for the most part) into their sound. Slipknot I'm biased with because they were the first metal band I ever liked.
