Classic deathmetal album

Well, I really love this album, but with all honesty I think it's slightly overrated. It's actually one of my least favorite from Death (which just proves how amazing they are)
So far I would say
Human>Leprosy>Symbolic>>ITP=SoP>>>>SBG

After listening pretty extensively to everything from Human to TSOP, for me, it's like this:
Symbolic>The Sound of Perseverance>>Human>>Individual Thought Patterns.
And I have to say, I can't find a single song, or for that matter a single part on any of the songs off any of these albums, that's anything less than excellent. It's horrifying how good this band is...was This Message Edited On 02.06.08

^^^Hey, I looked at your ratings, you seems to feel pretty much the same way as far as how good each of these albums are
I admit I've only listened to Individual Thought Patterns through one time, gonna give it a few more spins over the next couple days. Symbolic is unbelievable though. That being said, Spirit Crusher is easily my favorite Death song. This Message Edited On 02.06.08

Spirit Crusher certainly is awesome. I need to dig out some of the Death albums I've got. This, Human and Individual Thought Patterns slay.

Holy shit, this is fucking brilliant! Just gave this it's first spin and I was blown away. Now that is something that happens rarely to me, and especially considering that this is a genre I'm not too familar with.
If their other albums are about as good as this I'll definitely have to check out more that's for sure.

If their other albums are about as good as this I'll definitely have to check out more that's for sure. Just get their whole damn discography, it's all top-notch stuff (except Spiritual Healing), though the sound is changed every album. I'd start going backwards by year released, so get Symbolic next.
This is THE Death album though. This Message Edited On 03.02.08

Angel Phoneix - I'm yet to get Symbolic. Certainly need it though.

Whenever I listen to Painkiller (which is a lot...), I imagine Chucks' neck littered with popping out veins and a truly ugly, pained face. The man is insane! Or was...
Good review too, some capitalization errors, but nothing too big.

Confessed - I agree that is this is Death's most progressive album, and from what I've heard, their most unique. That alone can qualify it as top, but I found symbolic to be the ultimate peak of the sound they had been refining throughout their career. It's such a shame about Chuck. I feel like whatever came after this (maybe one or two albums later) would have been like the greatest thing in metal ever. Sucks.

i've been obsessed with this album as of late. pretty much owns Symbolic, though Symbolic has some badass tracks. a True death metal classic album ehhh this isn't really death metal. Human was death metal, but this is much too melodic to be considered death metal in the true senseThis Message Edited On 08.22.08

It's a great album but Human, Leprosy, Individual Thought Patterns and Symbolic are all better.
