I guess I'll make a facebook and screenshot his screenshot so we can jerk each other off.

"What the fck is that transition in Shattered temples from 4:30 to 4:50? Absolute rubbish songwriting."

I read this and then your username and I had to chuckle but it's ok man, we all have our preferences

Rubbish songwriting is a really really dumb take though lmao. This is one of the most well put together dm albums I have ever heard. And I think we all know I've heard my fair share of dm lmao.

To me sign of a professional artist is being able to connect ideas together in a coherent manner. Anyone who plays guitar can write riffs, they can come up with ideas, yet most fail at writing a complete song that makes sense. They can't join their ideas together so that it's a song rather than a collection of cool ideas. This album has a lot of ideas, hence why it reminds me of tech death (plus the wanking aka solos and fast playing without purpose or reason). But those ideas are not connected, there is no flow. I mentioned Shattered temples earlier and I'll mention it again: How is that song before 4 minutes and after 4 minutes connected? To me it sounds like going from one cool idea to the next to the next without flow. What was that awful break? And you say this is well put together? Let's agree to disagree.

that is really the only part on the album that feels jarring to me but it’s not jarring in a bad way. it’s like a one off fake out. the rest of the album feels extremely cohesive and balanced, which is why i don’t understand the tech death comparison. lot of variety here instead of the gogogo riff salad of most tekk deaf

To me it's jarring in a bad way. Also, the reviewer mentioned in his review that it's tech death, so its not just me. Shattered temples is definitely the most egregious example but it's not a one off, there are a lot of structural problems throughout, but they are more subtle. I'm not going through the whole album but minute 5 in the last song is another subtle example.

I agree with that for sure. This is definitely tech death just not the wanky shreddy shitty kind of tech death like bands like The Faceless, Fallujah, The Zenith Passage, etc.

Why waste time complaining about a 20 second transition (which isn't even egregious) during the course of an hour long album and basing any sort of judgment about the record on that thought alone? This may not have clicked with me as hard as the rest of the community but I don't think any of this qualifies as "shit songwriting"

technical death metal is such a broad term like calling someone American when you mean they're from Mexico. Every time I think of 'tech death' I think Archspire

anyway, I can relate to what UnknownError is saying since that is relatively common and I never really liked those moments, but tbh you need that sometimes to give you a moment to breathe lol

If you really think I dislike this album because of 20 seconds from one song you clearly didn't read my other posts. @Zakusz.
Also, Grievous didn't have these issues I mentioned. I posted here because I know this artist is capable of creating proper song structure. I don't write comments in a Cannibal corpse album because I don't care about popcorn DM. I'm not complaining just for the sake of it.

I noticed that the cover is no longer on the track list on bandcamp tho tbh I would skip that one and the PPT cover on the previous album lol

Still on mine, weird. I didn't know it was a cover til someone mentioned it. Never listened to porcupine theater. Even being a cover it feels a tad out of place, just a little jarring. But it's good

have to admit, it is a tad out of place, but it is also a good cover. oh there's another PPT cover? shit I have to hear that, never heard any PPT covers until this one so far and it's definitely one of my favorite bands ever

This album is so awesome, only given it about 2 full listens so far but I have to say this thing is impressive as hell.

Really dig the vocals. You can distinguish every lyric and there is so much nuance to the delivery. A lot of times the things that turn me off of this style of music is I can't connect with the vocals but they are incredible on this release.
