later circa anthony was pretty weak, let's not lie to ourselves
man peaked too early

Meh, later Circa had much different aims. He was going for a more airy, ethereal vibe most of the time. I think the Saosin reunion and LS Dunes has shown he can still mostly rip if he wants, but the dude's older. I think his crooning works well here

his delivery was indeed airy on those records but at the same time very flat, sort of failing to synchronise with or complement the instrumentation

Although I didn't thoroughly enjoy the vocalists in Part II (mostly because they were only featured on the less dynamic tracks), I found those few tracks more engaging than anything Night verses have done since Into the Vanishing Light. I think it would have been nice to hear Brandon or any other vocalist featured on Phoenix V or 8 Gates from Part I for example.
I know that I'm the minority, and this is an unpopular opinion, but everything they’ve written as an instrumental group feels incomplete. For as great as From the Gallery of Sleep and Part I are, they are honestly a chore to sit through from start to end, and the gimmicky spoken segments don’t add to the music in any meaningful way. Don’t get me wrong, the band members are extremely talented, and I’ll eat up anything Night Verses releases at this point, but I must admit that Doug (or any other vocalist) adds another dimension and layer to their music, which I prefer. Ultimately, I’m disappointed, because I wanted Night Verses to go all in and feature a vocalist who could complement their energy and creativity. Doug proved that it was possible on Lift Your Existence, and I think they missed an opportunity to do this on Every Sound.

@Pikazilla, I was excited to hear Anthony in Part II. Although his voice has changed, he can still deliver when given the opportunity and I was somewhat disappointed to hear the result.
Honestly, the entirety of Part II feels like self-sabotage. The overall disjoint nature of Part II and juxtaposition between the instrumental tracks and tracks featuring vocalists is too great to be mere circumstance…right? It feels almost as if they are trying to prove that they are a better band and musicians without a vocalist by intentionally downplaying any song with vocals.
Night Verses without vocalist = Creative, complex, passionate
Night Verses with vocalist = Reserved, timid, dull
Is it too much to ask for creativity, complexity, and passion, while also having a vocalist?

I went in listening to both parts for the first time and I absolutely loved it. It also made me appreciate Gallery more as well. This might be their work imo, even better than Lift Your Existence.

The Anthony Green track grew on me a lot. Love the chorus to it! Unfortunately though I still feel this pales in comparison to part 1 or Gallery of Sleep

This is phenomenal. I especially love Glitching Prisms and Desire to Feel Nothing.
Went back and listened to Part I and it's just as good. Might get really into this band at this rate.

bc013 just won the entire NV thread(s). Agreed completely (2)
That said I still find more to enjoy in pt.1 despite a certain ‘incompleteness’ because the vocal performances feel conflicting on the whole

That clean break when Anthony sings "or was I just asleeeeep" is like a top 5 moment on here

the fact that we can reasonably disagree on whether night verses is better with or without vocals honestly shows that they're pretty decent at both overall imo, and they should continue to do both

Band playthrough of Plague Dancer"
^this is sick, thanks for posting

Hard to really compare their first 2 albums with 3/4. The screaming vocals change the band , I was a huge fan of their first 2 and unfortunately have trouble enjoying much music without vocals. But it is a weird feel to have only 2 songs in this release with vocals

the higlights here are awesome, but overall I like this less than Part 1 and cant help but feel the sudden reliance on guest vocals will make it an uneasy whole package

I like both parts of this even though 8 Gates of Pleasure wipes the floor with the rest of this album (Plague Dancer comes closest). I don't mind the vocals including Green's.
