brother the metal thing was a joke

you’re probably still itching your parents pants lmao
|

^^whatever man lol
|

You think I was seriously claiming that metal is performed by white Dixie female vocalists?
|
| |
lol
|

my point is that anybody can take on country, and do it well. Pigeonholing a song/genre based on race/upbringing is unhelpful

I’m gonna go fucking sing jolene

Dude, it's difficult to get the true sentiment from written word in a post that appears to mock a previous one, almost verbatim.
Usually, when someone use to joke in this site, his/her post ended like this
*joking*
So that prospective interlocutors would not misunderstood the spirit of the post.
"I’m gonna go fucking sing jolene"
Do it man, but the end point here is that African-Americans already have their own hugely impactful/successful country genres, namely gospel, the blues, hip hop, soul etc.

I’m not putting *joking* on all my posts with a sense of humor
|

have you never heard of copypasta
|
| |
you might as well with how you come off
|
| |
once again, saying African Americans “have their own genres of country” they can perform is incredibly unhelpful
|
| |
The fact that there’s this many negative reactions to this album is the exact reason I support it. Some backwards beliefs about this genre. Music is for the people, however they choose to perform it.

Gosh this album is fun

Just to be clear I’m not trying to accuse you of anything, I just wish people were more open minded towards people performing music that doesn’t necessarily fit their demographic

@nol
Imho, country does not hold a candle to hip hop, the blues, gospel etc.
To my ears, country is great for what it is, but so one-dimensional compared to the genres I mentioned earlier, it only fits the specific settings related to the demographic it was cut out for, unlike hip hop, the blues etc, genres which have been spread, and evolved, and embraced worldwide.
When I look the cover of the album, something simply does not add up, that's just my opinion though.

Country is a mad weak genre in its current state, but I think that’s due to the powers that be being inflexible about who can succeed in the genre. I am exposed to popular country on a daily basis due to my job, and the main takeaway I have is that I can’t tell any kind of difference between the artists/songs. They have a very very specific formula for country hit making, and that formula is what people hate so much, not the genre.
I think if new minds started taking over the genre it would go a long way to fixing the genre’s reputation. I believe in country, listening to Garth Brooks or Willie Nelson makes me feel a way that other genres don’t, and I wish there was someone to take up that mantel who isn’t infected by corporate bullshit. Not that beyonce isn’t a corporate machine, but it at least opens the door for other artists, which is definitely a good thing.
