What kind of name is The Red JumpSuit Apparatus you may ask? Does it mean anything? Don't ponder too hard over it because in fact it doesn't mean jack ***. This band of five people is led by singer Ronnie Winter. Who indeed said they only wanted to come up with a name that sounded catchy, whether dumb sounding or not. But to be honest, I actually like the name due to the fact it doesn't sound like every other screamo/pop punk band out there (Fall Out Boy, I got my eye on you)!
Well lets start with the review. This is my first and if any corrections or comments just leave 'em at will. I can take a lil constructive critiscism. One day I was surfin myspace like a bored teenager does on a rainy summer afternoon; when I came across the very band I'm reviewing now. Something about them caught my attention. They weren't like every other pop punk bad I had heard before. They're first single off the debut album FACE DOWN, was somthing I really enjoyed to hear. The song touches on the issue of women being abbused by men. "Do you feel like a man, when you push her around, do you feel better now as she falls to the ground" a simple but catchy course makes women abbuse, which I never really paid much attention to (j/k I love you ladies) seem important. And to top it all off, they throw in a little scream during the second half of the song, which never feels forced. Their songs range in style from screamo, to a soft ballad, to a catchy pop song. All of which are executed perfectly. The hardest song on the album (not really hard, but for a band like this) is the opening song, "In Fates Hands". What really caught me off guard is the song title on Myspace is Ass Shaker. So when I heard the song on the CD i was like hmmmm. where the *** did Myspace get that title from? Anyways this is more of a screamo song with screaming during the entire course and near the end of the song. One feature I did like is the entire band getting together and pitching in their voice some during the song. Now, onto the pop love song titled, "Damn Regret". Great song nonetheless but more of a song someone like "June" would sing. "Atrophy" is another great song with screaming at the very beginning to let you not there not ***ing around...Okay not really, but a good way to start off. "Cat and Mouse" focuses and being a softer sweeter song. Every band always has to throw in the one soft song trying to show they can pull off anything. The only thing that plagues this album from getting any better of a rating is near the end of the album it seems like they slowed down a little not putting as much focus into it. Other than that you got yourself a new band that many of you should in deed enjoy. Hopefully you all liked my review and I will be posting other reviews for bands I've found w/ no reviews yet. Later!
