5.0 classicbreakingthefragile | March 11th 13

One of the earliest cases of a soundtrack that paved the way for the further development of
other genres. These two sprawling 20 minute pieces vividly paint the universe of the movie
in all its morbid beauty, and all while dabbling in the fields of drone, noise, dark
ambient, and industrial music long before each of those genres had been fully realized and
capitalized on, let alone connected together. To call this soundtrack "ahead of its time"
would be an understatement, as these sound collages of layers of unsettling environmental
ambiance and dismal noise pollution make up one of the most avant-garde exercises in the
entirety of film scores still to this day.
