Review Summary: Most Skynyrd compilations are meaningless, but this one is moreso than others.

Just face it, Lynyrd Skynyrd was an awesome band. In the few years they existed, they put out more classic songs than many bands do in twenty years. And so it goes, any band with that many good songs and four deceased members is bound to put out many compilations that all contain the same songs. Most Skynyrd compilations are meaningless, but this one is moreso than others. This particular compilation is titled 20th Century Masters, and all 20th Century Masters compilations are boring, awful, and while some may contain the only songs you need by said band, this one in particular does not.

20th Century Masters lacks dozens of classic songs. It's even lacking some of the band's most well-known hits. At least four of the ten tracks could have cut and replaced with Call Me The Breeze, Tuesday's Gone, Workin' for MCA, or some other song.

If this had been a studio album, it would be a lot better, but it's just a little ol' compilation. Yeah, the great songs happen to be real good and dandy, but I want more! MORE! I mean, sure, the vocals are great. The musicianship? Why, it's top tier as a matter of fact, especially those guitars. Mmm, mmm, good.

Although this has more than a few wonderful songs, it lacks the majority of their best songs. It's just a bad greatest hits album in general, I suppose. It's not even a worthwhile buy for those wanting to get into the band. For about three more dollars, you can get Greatest Hits. Add two more bucks and get Gold And Platinum. Both of which are top tier compilations. 20th Century Masters: The Best of Lynyrd Skynyrd is a poor compilation, and you should not waste your hard-earned cash on it. Buy something more useful, like food or gas. Or a Skynyrd studio album.

They're cheap cash-ins, and usually contain, like, eight songs.

Why did you even get this? These are the albums that you see next to the candy and magazines in Wal-Mart check-out lines.
