The well-respected punk rockers from Central Coast in New South Wales, Australia have released an album that really gets your feet moving. The bands first album etiquette was a very solid punk album that put them on the map immediately. It's been 3 years and the guys form Something With Numbers have created a pop punk album that you can tell they've really worked hard on which doesn't disappoint

Jake Grigg- Lead Vox
Dave McBeath - Drums
Scott Chapman - Bass
Lachlan Scott- Guitar
Tim Crocker- Guitar/ Backing Vox

1. Spent- A very progressive start with the guitar chiming through with Jake singing very quietly and the drums playing a gentle backbeat. The Chorus juxtaposes what the verse was and it's what keeps the song together. The 2nd verse continues on the dynamics similar to the chorus as he sings with angst. The Chorus is very repetitive pretty much repeating the words "Say It's over now". The guitar fades the song out nicely. A Solid opening song 4.5/5

2. Apple Of The Eye (Lay Me Down)- The single from the album that was very popular in the Australian charts. A very quiet start similar to the song Spent. Jake sings very quiet through the verse as all the instruments are being played smoothly and Tim's backing vocals flows as a very good accompaniment. The drums keeps the flow through the chorus. The chorus is absolute blinder and extremely catchy as its an instant hook. Jake vocals through the chorus and the bridge are amazing. He sings the song to the up most best of his abilities. An absolute hit!
5/5

3. Chase The Chaser- An awesome intro! The guitars are brilliant. Another slow and quite verse which is the structure that is followed on by a loud Chorus, which is, pretty much they use in their songs. The call and response in the chorus sticks with the song and sung out thoroughly to the end.
4.5/5

4. Zombie- The intro is just with Jake singing in a lower octave than normal and the bass guitar. The bassline is simple and seems like a swing beat. This song is more of a rock song than a punk song. The chorus is a very uplifting. There is a little harmonic guitar solo in the song, which is another highlight. The song is about solving your problems and the whole concept about the song is done well. A good song to chill out too 4.5/5

5. Bang, Bang, Bang- Hard to classify if this song is a rock song or a punk song but tends to swing closely to rock. A very interesting song from Something With Numbers and seems very experimental for them. The guitar mainly places chords during the chorus. Jake sings very perculiar in this song as he never sings high pitched in this song. The singing in equally shared by Jake and Tim. A weird and peculiar song that is actually a good listen.
4/5

6. Goodbye Mickey Finn- An acoustic song at the start that contains an array of strings in the song. The guitar and strings accompany each other very well and this happens about the for 2:20 minutes. Than all the instruments kick in. The song I didn’t like at first but is very a good listen to and it contains beautiful lyrics. Another song to chill out too.
4/5

7. Calf Love- This is an awesome song to rock out to and it's my favourite song on the album. Good song to jam to and the backing vocals are awesome as its very catchy only by one word "woo hoo" which describes how i feel for this song. The song contains a very similar structure to most of there songs ( a quite verse and a heavy chorus). The bass is strong through the bass and keeps the song together. It's almost could be a teen anthem if a video clip would be made for this song and reminds of the song blur 2. A catchy awesome song to rock out!
5/5

8. What Is This? - Another awesome punk intro. The bass is also very strong in the verse as to the previous song, which makes this song a gem. It has the same SWN structure used on most of the songs on this album. The chorus is very good and is to sing along to as it's only one line "What Is This?". Has an awesome break down at the bridge. Jake sings this song with passion. A Super Duper song!
5/5

9. Double Dyed- Contains the SWN structure. The verse and pre-chorus is very gentle and out of the blue the chorus kicks into full motion. Jake sings very consistently hold some notes in chorus and varies his pitch working up and down the scale. The chorus is very catchy and he sings the song right to the end. An excellent song but the structure is starting to become annoying.
5/5

10. Bring Me Some Water- This song contains piano in it and has a catchy chorus. The piano and acoustic guitars accompany each other well. A very dark song and Jake sings this song as it has great meaning to him. I quite enjoy this song and flows through very nicely. The chorus contains strings yet again. The song a unique and unusual song to come from SWN but is an enjoyable.
4/5

11. Agony- Was an interesting song to finish off with as I’d put this song around track 7-8. Contains the SWN structure yet again (starting to get annoying). Quite a solid song and the chorus is catchy too. The guitar holds the song together and which makes the song very sturdy and strong. The guitar drives the song to the end, which concludes the album.

Overall a good follow up albulm from boys of Central Coast. Although very different to Etiquette, which blew peoples minds away I thought this album was worth waiting for. Old SWN fans may not like this album but i certainly did.

Pro's
- Good variety of songs some to rock out to and some for chilling out.
- Jake's vocals are always impressive and outstanding
- Hasn't tryed to copy the American sub culture (very individualistic)
- catchy chorus
- Very mature album
- unique lyrics

Con's
- The SWN structure can be very annoying at times
- Very hard to tell what is punk and what is rock
- Would of been better with a couple or a few more songs

Just checked out some more stuff from these guys on youtube after wondering who the fuck sang the "Lay Me Down" song. They're pretty solid and I think I'll get this.
