Review Summary: Lemme get the torch, Ima hold it tight/ On top of the canyon, right where they standin, Ima avalanche em.

Blizzi Boi, a strange and seemingly neurotic jack-of-all-trades. This man will go from off-the-top ramblings about Black N Milds and bottled water to self-loathing introspection to dark and dim-witted trolling, sometimes in the span of one song. His filterless style of rapping is in the same vein as artists like Lil B and Yung Lean, but has more of an earworm quality that blends in smoothly with his erratic wordplay.

Here on American Badass 2, he emits a clear sense of hunger for success and relevance less easily spotted in his earlier work. While he maintains a slight tounge-in-cheek quality throughout most of this release, it is clear that he is curiously flirting with the idea of mainstream success. On tracks like Dat Loud and Break Yo Brain Up 2, he shows off his less-than-complex but hyped up lyrical capabilitys. On Take A Picture, Never Seen Before, and Several Hunnid Dollaz he proves that he has what it takes to make those money-shot catchy singles. And as if he needed to prove his comedic prowess, he has Rob In The Function as well as Murder All My Friends. But what really stands out to me are the tracks Sarah's Nightmare and Pringles. On these two tracks, he capitalizes on the storytelling and therapeutic lyricism he displayed on Paper Flowers with a grittier texture. Now I must admit that there is some craptastic throwaways on here. Don't Understand is bogged down by a lazily excreted hook by guest rapper Swag Kobain. Munny Talks sounds like a mix between a faster-spitting Future and nails on a chalkboard. Da Grove is a sincere yet super cheesy dedication to his set. Also We Winnin is just unforgivably bland.

Though uneven and somewhat silly, this mixtape is definitely worth a listen. It's free on Datpiff, so take a minute and check it out. This serves as a perfect entry point to this artist, mixing his strengths and weaknesses into one convenient bundle.
