Taking cues from multiple genres, including 1st/2nd wave black metal, dark ambient and Incantation-style death metal, Absu created an absolute riff-filled gem on their first LP without compromising atmosphere. Barathrum paved the way for the current black/death scene associated with acts such as Portal, Mitochondrion, Abyssal et al.
