Review Summary: HAIL OQRE

Oqre (with a Q)...what a man. Who is he? Where is he from? What are his life tales? What does he look like? Nobody knows, not even Google. His solo project, Myrimin, is almost as mysterious, with only findable links for him or his band on YouTube, RateYourMusic, an awful Bandcamp page with only some of his music, and this jolly website...and occasionally it appears on Metal Archives before being deleted. If the band isn't on Metal Archives, that's really something. There's underground, then there's subterranean, then there's Myrimin. He also has is his own website but it's in doodlebot (free custom website maker) that hasn't been updated since 2012 and is in Belarussian. The man is mysterious. Could this mean that his music is too good for our unpure ears? Perhaps. Let's find out.

Myrmin's supposed 2nd release, "Luk, Usiezorki, & Izaliacyja" comprises of simply three songs: "Luk," "Usiezorki," and "Izaliacyja"...well, I wonder where the title came from. This is essentially a sequel to Bolota Ohta, except much better, which of course isn't saying anything at all. It has the same quality, same guitar tone, same song structure, same vox, it's all practically the same, like it was recorded on the same day as Bolota Ohta. Only Oqre could capture the same recording quality two years apart form the last album. Many of tried, all of failed...except for Oqre.

The opener, "Luk", starts off with a pretty decent (albeit sloppy) acoustic guitar intro that's shrouded in iPod headphone mic 144p recording quality. Still, the guitar manages to sound pretty tolerable. A 30 second ambient echo...and the main riff begins in the same vein as Bolota Ohta. The 'riff' is possibly Myrimin's best and the most black metal thing from band, but the monotonous drum TUD TUD TUD TUD TUD which sounds like a guy playing a plastic drum like a bongo set takes me to a time when I hated being given the ability to hear. This guy only has two drum parts: snare and hi hat. TUD TUD TUD TUD CHHH TUD TUD CHHH TUD TUD TUD TUD CHHH! A few times in the song, Oqre drops his drums sticks and theres a few moments of silence without any drum sound. It's a joke! Can the black metal guitaring save the song? Well, almost...eh, no. The riff is alright, but it is on an endless "atmospheric whoa man" loop for about 7 minutes until another riff finally comes in, this time a really bad riff that sounds like feedback. The end of the 10 minute long track again changes riffs, this one a decent riff that ends way too suddenly. This is because Oqre knew if the amazing riff continued on any longer, there would be no purpose for music to ever be written again. He spared us so we as a species may continue to enjoy new music. What a man...I mean God!

The 2nd track is a very short acoustic track that is passable enough. It serves as the interlude of the first and last tracks, both of which are monstrously long. At least it's short and different and doesn't loop for infinity. The intro sounds like The Twilight Zone opening or something, and the guitarist Oqre proves that he can strum a guitar pretty damn fast. The second half of the song kinda reminds me of "Jealousy" by Death, which proves Oqre is the reincarnation of Chuck Schuldiner. The end chord strumming is also kinda cool.

The final track...uh no.

At this point, you realize you are on the final track of a 62 minute long album, yet you are only 14 minutes into the album. You say "wow, the final track is really 40 minutes long?" and you'd be correct. The album fades in from the silence with the wind blowing, and to be completely honest, it sounds pretty relaxing, almost as if an epic Icelandic tale is about to unfold. A minute later, the wind still blows, perhaps delaying the grandiose fable of life, love, and truth and thus giving the listener even more anticipation.

20 minutes later, the wind still blows.

Wait, this track is just 40 minutes of the wind blowing, isn't it. *** this ***. I got suckered into listening to this because Sonomadude told me the second half of the song was amazing, and I literally sat there like a dumbass just listening to the wind blow. Use this to troll people, you'll laugh your asses off.

Maybe Oqre (with a Q) was trying to tell us something. Perhaps he knew the secrets of life and tried to convert them into audio form, but because impoverted Icelandic recording equipment isn't top notch, he wasn't able to capture his true heart in a form we'd understand. Perhaps he was bringing us the meanings of life...what keeps life runnning? Reproduction and food...which becomes ***...

This album is *** n ***, there. *sips beer*

"takes me to a time when I hated being given the ability to hear."

Were you deaf once and had to get surgery to get your hearing back?

"Perhaps he was bringing us the meanings of life...what keeps life runnning? Reproduction and food...which becomes ***...This album is *** n ***, there. *sips beer*"

Nice blatant AVGN ripoff, hard neg.

"alright so whose sput project is this, anyway? I'm assuming Sonoma."

I think that's a safe bet, considering it's on his Youtube channel.

This band has been rejected by the moderators for the following reason:

"Rejected for two reasons:

-Lacks a valid digital release, due to the horrendous recording quality.

-Not discernably metal, due to being so poorly produced. There's some stuff that... well, it might be metal, but it's just so far off from having identifiable guitar riffs that it's kind of hard to judge."

Keep in mind that all modifications are logged; this band has been submitted multiple times from multiple users across a span of two years. We will know if the band is submitted again, so unless this band releases something with less hostile quality, we cannot accept it into our library.

Not that the Metallum mods aren't generally thumb-twiddling elitist know-nothings, but they were pretty spot-on with their reasoning here. If you want this band added to the archives it should at the very least be released digitally somewhere other than just on a random youtube page. Slap it on Bandcamp or something idk.

It used to have a page on there, which is where I got all the artwork and shit, but it's no longer there for those reasons. I really dont care cuz we are all accepted under the fatherhood of shrek ay laddie
