Ponty basically shreds away on his violin while also showcasing a softer side. Ponty's first true
solo record reminds of Mahavishnu (who he would join the year this record was released) at their
most energetic. That's one of the greatest compliments a fusion artist could get in my eyes. While
the violin playing is amazing, the compositions navigating through barrages of various odd-meters
are done brilliantly too, much due to the incredible syncopated drumming. That is what brings this
record above many others in its field.
