Review Summary: A great short listen and the best by bulldog eyes. 8/10

A couple weeks ago, YouTube caught onto my love of bedroom pop and recommended a fan-made music video to listen to: "ok demo" - bulldog eyes. I have listened to much of bulldog eyes before, but his discography is so expansive that I had never heard of his album "landes". After "ok demo" I gave "nyquil dream" a listen and fell in love. Since then, I have listened to this album (alright, its more of an EP, but its 10 well composed songs, give the guy some credit) probably twice per day on average. It seemed that in almost 3 years the internet has seen the brilliance that I do in this album, and it was not even in the Sputnik database until I added it through this review. Opening with some white noise and a guitar riff extremely reminiscent of Alex G's "Change", Georgie's subdued voice croons of wishing to fight with the girl I'm supposing is in his mind. "blister demo" is a short acoustic-guitar-plus-drum-kit track with a fair amount of emotion. Tracks such as "home ii", "flower (acoustic)" and "happy" feature sunburnt synth leads bleeding out of cheap keyboards, clever guitar licks, and bittersweet lyrics. By the time "ok demo" clicks on in your bedroom or car, you'll have no choice in humming along in a lovesick daze that counteracts the somewhat melancholy songs before it, built of a simple drum machine pattern and two or three vibraphone-esque keyboard lines. I'm not going to touch on the Breeders cover too much, but it passes in both creativity and accuracy. "Novel" also wraps up the album succinctly. Don't let this fun-yet-dark peice of bedroom pop pass you by.

Review reads a bit too brief in all honesty. A short review is fine imo so long as it has adequate development, and this feels lacking.

With a few more ideas this could be much better, hope you keep writing my man.

yeah this was a bit hard to read, but still not bad for a first review.

georgie rules. although i really prefer 'asleep' and his new project garden of heavenly rest more than this release.
