April 12, 2008 was the day that the bar was raised…Who releases a 20 song, double disc album as their first full length release??... A twenty-three year old “Josh of all trades’ Toronto based musician named Joshua Bartholomew. Joshua wrote, produced and played ninety-eight percent of the instruments on the album. With influences that range from Daniel Lanois to Led Zeppelin, Joshua is not your everyday musician. ‘And So It Begins’ is a true representation of his diversity. With the Dayside disc showing more of the softer side, with songs such as the epic ‘One Man’, the heart melting ‘Tears’ and the masterpiece ‘Miracle’. For more of the rock-edgy side of Joshua pop in the Nightside disc. This disc showcases Joshua’s amazing range; we hear his killer signature falsetto in ‘Charming Alarm’ and ‘Love Like A Stone’.
When I listen to an album it is easy to pick favorites. Well ‘And So It Begins’ has me stumped, there are too many to mention. The songs on this album will make the guys sit-up, listen and take notice, while the girls swoon.
If I was stuck on an island I would want ‘And So It Begins’ with me!
