Review Summary: With an increasing number of music listeners turning their backs on albums, Flaunt have released an EP that argues against the decline of the album.

Flaunt have returned with a brand new album titled Spectra. The ensemble act of Colorado and Maine natives, Justin Jennings and Joseph Vitterito, has come up with a body of work that appeals to conventional tastes but steps outside the norm as well.

The title is indicative of the music on offer: it’s an eclectic mix of music and you would be doing the act a disservice by trying to pin their sound down to one genre. There are elements of rock, pop, dance and R&B among others fused with electronic music to produce modern songs.

'Vows’ the lead single taken from Spectra, has all the key traits of a song with that catchy hook that won’t let go.

Throughout the album they weave a combination of seemingly disparate styles together to good effect and it feels like you are part of a 'Later with Jools Holland' show, where on the same night radio friendly rock song share the same stage with electronic dance music anthems.

Having said that, the band fares better when they channel their energy into indie rock, infectious guitar-driven tracks such as ‘’Favourite Light’’ , 'Small..' and 'I Got You'.

'Impossible Miracle' embraces the sounds of the last decade and is somehow reminiscent of alternative rock bands of the nineties.

With an increasing number of music listeners turning their backs on albums, Flaunt have released an EP that argues against the decline of the album.
