3.0 good | TheManMachine | October 18th 13 | The tunes not only lack the strange charm of albums past more than ever, most of 'em sound undeniably slick and at times cringeworthy. That being said: if they're going to sound big, this is the way to do it - it's triumphant, confident, and loud; and further proves this band doesn't need tape hiss to compliment great songwriting. I'll take their version of 'generic' any day.

4.5 superb | miamiscot | September 30th 11 | Many GbV fans were thrilled that this record was not a repeat Do The Collapse - the most hated album in the Guided By Voices catalog. What it is, then, is the loud, rocking slab Pollard always wanted to do. And it has "Glad Girls." Good enough for me!
