Review Summary: SonDura come across as a heavy band with roots dating back to early American Rock music. Nice EP and deserves a little recognition.

SonDura - Lights Out EP

SonDura come across as a heavy band with roots dating back to early American Rock music. Although the irony lies in the bands name, they're a Birtish band from London while their name is Spanish for Sound Hard.

Anyway, SonDura are:

Tom Watson - Vocals, guitar
Jack Watson - Guitar, vocals
James Fraser - Bass
Fred Green - Drums.

They're music is full of catchy guitar riffs and this is a metal band that actually turn their bass up a little bit! Shocking! The vocals range from heartfelt clean singing to graspy shouts to harsh screams from the backs of their throats. The drums don't really stand out too much and it feels like the main focus on this EP is the guitar and vocals. Which they do pretty well but it feels like they should've focused alot more on the drums which are pretty standard in terms of creativity. Although they do have some high points, but not many.

With this EP, the heavy distortion on the guitars which sounds as if it were turned up anymore, it would be unlistenable, actually work here. It blends in nicely with the vocals and makes it a very enjoyable CD.

The CD only has 3 tracks on it, but they're pretty well worked tracks and this works better than if they had crammed 12 tracks onto a CD.

The first track Lights Out, is a very structured song with some distinctive bass lines and an awesome riff. The vocals come in at the right time and work well with the songs pace. You can tell the band threw a hell of a lot of effort into perfecting this. Probably the best song on here. [4/5]

The second song (Antics), starts off really differently, but also opens with a riff. The song is really a reminder of its American rock roots. It's a really catchy song and fits well on this EP. [3/5]

The last song, Fake, is another highlight on here. Starting off with a clean guitar and clean vocals, it builds up into another anthemic rock song with distorted screams and riffs throughout. [4/5]

Overall, this is a damn good record for a band so un-heard of. I would recommend this to any fans of metal or american rock. At times they remind me of Three Days Grace but have that edge that makes them heavier.

Best Song - Lights Out

Overall Rating - 4/5

you need some work on this work review honestly. i realize it's only 3 tracks, but you can do a lot more than just say that a song is "nice" or "different" and has "awesome riffs" or "clean guitar." There is a lot more description you should be able to use
