3.5 great | Jethro42 | October 22nd 18 | See my Edit at the end of my sound off.
After hearing their famous proggy, concept album Discesa, my expectations were high for their new
album Seme. What a disappointment!...My first deception is the unbalanced delivery. Album starts
with a powerful, heavy prog BANG, one that we would not find elsewhere on here. Album falls flat
in every two songs. They clearly lack of direction, like if they were trying to gain more
popularity, but instead they took the risk to lose a big part of their actual fanbase. Musicians
are skillful and the singer has an energetic and emotive voice. Too bad, album could have been
more proggy and much better. My guess is that they released it too soon with not enough material.
it's not mature, and not deep enough. Better taking time a bit more rather than rushing a release.
There are few songs I like very much, and interesting instrumental breaks have to be found, but
not enough to save the whole thing. Will give a few more spins to see if my rating is too poor.
Edit; the best moments overshadow the weakest, so it's a 3.5 from me.
