The approach is fresh enough, lots of variety. The term "avant-garde metal" can become too common these days with its "let's play some metal with jazz progression and dissonant chords" concoction. This album doesn't quite get into that trap, because there are also something else in play. Production is awful though, especially the guitar tone. Vocals seem to attract love/hate although I don't mind with those.
