I was first introduced to Serge Von Dietz by a dear friend of mine and I have not looked back since. 'Truth Be Told' is the first release by up and coming Canadian music sensation Serge Von Dietz. Although the album is only comprised of seven wonderful cuts, Von Dietz wastes no time in capturing the listeners attention with vivid imagery and stellar storytelling. The album opens with the track "Gypsy Road" which will no doubt be remembered as the anthem of 2018. From the electrifying opening riff to the soothing vocals, Von Dietz will convince you that "the gypsy life is the life for me". Throughout the album, Von Dietz refuses to conform to the norm and continuously reinvents himself through a khalediscope of musicianship. Whether listening to the soft acoustic rhythm of the track "try" or the instant classic Rock and Roll Sing-a-long track aptly titled "Rock and Roll" Von Dietz isn't afraid to push the sonic boundaries. Von Dietz closes the album off with the intimate piano ballad "Strong Enough" taking the listener through a miriade of emotions while offering the listeners a glimpse into his personal life. Serge Von Dietz proved with this album that he can single handedly capture a nation's attention like a power 'serge'. 'Truth Be Told' is a masterclass in songwriting leaving no doubt that Serge Von Dietz is the songbird of our generation.
