The Ramones were, and still are, one of the best bands ever. Looking down the list of big names: U2, RHCP, Greenday, Metallica, etc. you can see they we're something specail just by the bands paying tribute. Some bands have stayed true to the Ramones style, others have developed it with their own style creating something new and brilliant.

1. Havana Affair- The Chili's have changed this song dramatically. You can hear their signiture sound straight away (instead of a roaring Ramones song), and it is another chili's classic. 4/5

2. Blitzkrieg Bop- This is really different to Ramones style, with loads of guitar effects thrown in. Still a great song in it's own right. Gives the awesome lyrics much needed attitude. 4/5

3. I Belive in Miracles- Roaring guitar, clear bass and vocals- this is very like a Ramones song. However, Vedder's voice is no way as good as Joey's. 3/5

4. 53rd & 3rd- Thumping Metallica song. If there's one thing Metallica do well, it's Ramones cover. The Metallica sound is there, but so is the Ramones. 4/5

5. Beat on the Brat- U2 take on this song which seems very important to Ramones fans. U2's style makes it slightly quirky, but still a brilliant song. Bono's voice goes well with this song. 4/5

6. Rock n' Roll Radio- Kiss use their own style hear. Sadly, it doesn't please like the original. 3/5

7. The KKK Took my Baby Away- Maralyin Manson? Ugh! Skip.... (Some time later:) Decide it's only fair to try it. After 30 seconds I've had enough. Manson's quirky style is nothing like Ramones or even Rock n' Roll. 0/5

8. I Just Wanna Have Something to do- Slightly faster but still true to Ramones style. 3/5

9. Outsider- Excellent tune. Very, very similar to the original. I needed to use one in a video I was making- I couldn't pick between the two. Great job Greenday! 5/5

10. Something to Belive in- Sorta similar to the original. Not a bad song, just not heavily interesting. 2.5/5

11. Sheena is a Punk Rocker- In a rare turn of events, Rancid produce a good song! Fast, lively and just great overall. You wouldn't belive this was a cover of the original. 5/5

12. I Wanna be Your Boyfriend- Nice attempt. Very similar to the original. The druming and backing vocals is a nice touch. 3/5

13. I Wanna be Sedated- This is brilliant for the Offspring! A lot livleyer then the original, and the guitar is fantastic. The drums top it all off nicely. 5/5

14. Here Today, Gone Tommorow: Very similar to the original. Unfortunatly, that wasn't brilliant either. 3/5

15. Return of Jackie and Judy- A new song based on "Judy is a Punk." Roaring guitar to match Tom's low pitched vocals. 3/5

16. John Frusainte liked the Ramones so much he had another shot at paying tribute (Chili's did Havana Affair.) More relaxed and accoustic than the original. Just John, accoustic guitar, and chorus like chanting in the background. 4/5

17. Daytime Dialema- Wow, this is really good. Like Outsider (covered by Greenday) this is nicley like the original. 4/5

We're a Happy Family: A Tribute to the Ramones has been one of my favorites since I got it, and I'm always recomending it to everyone. Don't know if anyone has bought it yet though! It should be national law to own this album. 4/5.

This album is absolutely horrible. Only Ramones completists should own it.

Wow. Well, okay. Tell you what. You make the review a little bit more worthwhile and maybe I'll consider not laughing at the closing statement.

I don't think that a song by song review is appropriate for a cover album. Anyway the Ramones are a great band like you said, but almost all cover albums suck.

I thought some of the covers were better than the originals.

I just found out after reading the review I have one of the first thousand copys with the bonus track. Anyone know how much more that would make the cd worth? This Message Edited On 09.10.05

I don't even have the album.

It was getting ragged on so much I thought that writing that it was better than the ramones original someone would write something funny like that^^^.

the only songs even worth listening to are the ones by kiss, offspring, and metallica. green days cover sucked as they play it EXACTLY the same. speed, guitar, drums, bass are all EXACTlY like the original. which any band can do and shows that green day has no creativity

dude, this album was not meant for you to compare each artist to the ramones. the meaning of this cd is to show how the ramones has inpspired these artists. and i would give tom wait's version of the return of jack and judy an easy 5/5This Message Edited On 12.27.05

I have this album (just discovered i have one of the first 1000) and i would say my favourite tracks are "Havana Affair", "Blitzkrieg Bop", "Here Today, Gone Tomorrow" and the John Frusciante bonus track "Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World". It's a great album.
