For some time now I've been finding out about new bands and new genres and about three months ago I was on last.fm and I looked up the word “nintendocore” the bands iamerror and I Shot the Duck Hunt Dog showed up before me, along with other bands but none caught my eye as much as I Shot the Duck Hunt Dog. Even know I had been listening to Horse the Band and iamerror I still didn't know much about this mystical genre called Nintendocore, it apparently isn't just death-core mixed with Nintendo samples and electronica it's that and just plain trance techno mixed with Nintendo sounds. I Shot the Duck Hunt Dog deserves recognition because they know what there nintendocore followers want brutal breakdowns with nerd related material in the lyrics (which cannot be found any where because the band doesn't know how to not lose something.)
This album known as Epic Fail made me happy to know there is someone who hates scene kids (in fact most nintendocore bands quit because of the scene kid following they get.) There songs are against anything that isn't Nintendo related even if it is Nintendo related they make fun of it basically they make peach from the Super Mario Bro's franchise seem like a “scene slut” and Bowser is apparently a “***ing Bitch” as they put it so lightly in their song “The ***ing Reset Button is Jammed.” This band is made up of two people Quinn Spencer and Cory Sedor, (Cory Sedor being the Vocals and Quinn Spencer doing Drums, Backing Vocals, and Sound effects.) They have released 5 EPs so far (For Derek EP, Epic Fail EP, Ninstrumentalism EP, For Humanity Instrumentals EP, The Sounds of Endgame EP, and their newest one Beyond the Motion of A Monster EP.) There line of work is growing on me but there newer albums i.e. For Humanity and Sounds of Endgame all there stuff is instrumentals.
I going to now rate each song as I see fit and it will average out to my score of 3.5.
1. The ***ing Reset Button is Jammed- Song Rating: 3
The begins out with a sound sample from a Mario game and then the lead singer screams Bowsers a Bitch! This then goes in to a not so fast but very loud verse of brutality that goes into a quiet but menacing melody and then starts up with the power again. It surprises me because the beginning of the song is really loud and catches you off guard.
2. Brootal Bowser- Song Rating: 3
At the beginning of this song there is a sound clip from what I believe to be 28 Days Later but I'm not too sure, but the song begins out with Cory just screaming his lungs out and since there are no visible lyrics I have no clue what he is saying. From the sound of the song I can tell he really wants his “ten to march forth.”
3. Bad Shrooms- Song Rating: 4
This song is one of my favorites I love how it's just hard-style techno with him screaming about how he hates sluts and he is to good for scene chicks. “Tits right through the front door, you know how we do bitch, we get ***ed.”
4.Gut ***ing Genova with Knights of the Round Table- Song Rating: 3.5
This song is great because it brings in the low screams of the drummer (which are brutally deep, demonic almost.) The song itself is not very long with a time of only 1:47 (which is about the average song on this album.)
5. JUSTIN BAILY- Song Rating: 3
This song is a really an out cast from this album with a lot more Nintendo and more back up singing. (Girls screaming fight fight fight over and over again.)
6. Flower Girls Who Don't Put Out Get Stabbed- Song Rating: 3.5
This song has two versions of it this one is my favorite out of the two it sounds like the beginning to a rap song and that makes me happy.
7.Garry Mother***ing Oak (Confirmed for Brawl)- Song Rating: 5
This is my favorite song on this album and I know all the lyrics to it by ear which is not to easy to do because you can barely understand what the hell hes saying, but the song it self is a masterpiece.
8. Fap Party at Pedobears House- Song Rating: 3
I like this song obviously not one of my favorites but I do know what the songs about
: Think to catch a Predator.
9. Epic Fail- Song Rating: ???
I haven't exactly sat down and listened to this song, but from what I heard it was alright but conformist to some of the other tracks (except for the fact that is 4:58 the longest song on the album and the longest song in their career that has vocals.)
